Henderson Veterans Treatment Court

Henderson Veterans Treatment Court Veterans Treatment Court enhances public safety by providing treatment for veterans.

Judge Mark Stevens of Henderson Municipal Court Department 1 launched a specialty court in June of 2011 called Veterans Treatment Court (VTC). This court was formed to address issues which many veterans face when returning home from war and service for our country and find themselves in the criminal system due to those issues. Many veterans return home with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), T

raumatic Brain Injury (TBI), or mental health issues including drug and alcohol abuse that stem from their military service. VTC takes a team approach to try and rehabilitate the veteran who has been charged with a misdemeanor crime while attending counseling programs provided by the Veterans Affairs (VA) as well as other requirements deemed necessary by the VTC team. It is the mission of the Henderson Municipal Court's Veterans Treatment Court program to enhance public safety and to hold veterans accountable for their conduct while providing an avenue for rehabilitation through a comprehensive treatment approach that address issues related to their military service experiences that contributed to their commission of a crime. ** MEET OUR MENTORS ** ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿช–

Please welcome one of our newest mentors joining the VTC crew!

Tyler was born in Camarillo, CA. He moved to Las Vegas his freshmen year of high school and enlisted in the Army at 22 years old where he served for 6 years as a 68W aka combat medic. While enlisted, he had two combat tours (Iraq & Afghanistan). Tyler was one of our successful participants and graduated in 2020 and decided to become one of our mentors!!

โ€œMy world revolves around my daughter Mackenzie. She will be 5 in May. In my free time, I love working out and playing video games. VTC changed my life around and while I was in the program, my mentor really helped me out. I owe a lot to this program. That is what motivated me to become a mentor myself. I donโ€™t have as much experience as the other mentors, but being a graduate allows me to connect with the participants on a different level I feel.โ€

The VTC team and the participants are so lucky to have him! โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

Vet Court held their annual Holiday Party! ๐ŸŽ„ Our amazing mentors and mentor coordinator Mark Evan Israelitt put together a beautiful personalized gift honoring our volunteer defense attorney Ken Roberts, Esq., for his committed service to the VTC program! Ken has always been a staple in the VTCโ€™s success.

A huge thank you to the Veterans Action Foundation for providing gift cards for the participants and their families this holiday season. We couldnโ€™t be more grateful for their team and Ralphโ€™s continued support. ๐Ÿ’™โค๏ธ

This year DUDE Wipes graciously donated over 200 wipes to support VTC here in Henderson! ๐Ÿคฏ Each of our participants received a care package. Judge Albritton decided to pay it forward and donate the excess wipes to Blue Star Mothers to ship to our troops overseas! ๐Ÿช–๐ŸŽ–๏ธ๐Ÿซก

We also received a huge donation from Cards Against Humanity where each of our participants could share a family fun night with their new deck of cards! This was such a hit!

Lastly, the Henderson Silver Knights donated game tickets to our participants to show their support for our veterans and the Henderson community. This holiday party was such a success and memorable moment that our participants were able to enjoy! Our team is so grateful for the continued overwhelming support! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year from Judge Albritton and the entire VTC team! ๐Ÿ’™โค๏ธ
