Whether it's at home, in school, or in community settings, behavioral challenges can become overwhelming. We offer highly effective, affordable Parent Training services so you don't have to do it alone.

Parent training is an important component of applied behavior analysis (ABA) because it helps parents acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to support their child's progress and development at home, at school and/or in the community. ABA is a scientifically validated approach to understanding behavior and developing strategies to change it. It is often used to treat children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disorders. Parents play a critical role in their child's success in ABA therapy, as they are the ones who spend the most time with their child outside of therapy sessions. By receiving training and education in ABA principles and techniques, parents can learn how to effectively reinforce positive behavior and reduce challenging behaviors in their child. This can lead to better outcomes in therapy, as well as improved behavior and functioning in daily life.
Parent training can also help to promote generalization of learned skills, meaning that the child is more likely to use the skills they have learned in therapy in a variety of settings and situations. In addition, parent training can help to reduce stress and improve the overall well-being of both the child and the parent.

Overall, parent training is an important aspect of ABA therapy because it helps to empower parents with the tools and knowledge they need to support their child's progress and success both in therapy and in daily life.

How the Human Body Receives Sensory Information:

• Taste
• Touch
• Smell
• Sound
• Sight
• Balance (vestibular)
• Awareness of body position and movement (proprioception)
• Awareness of internal body cues and sensations (interoception)

Autistic people can experience both hypersensitivity (over-responsiveness) and hyposensitivity (under-responsiveness) to a wide range of stimuli. Most people have a combination of both.

Sensory issues are common in people with autism and are even included in the diagnostic criteria for autism spectrum disorder. Each autistic person is unique, and this includes their personal sensory sensitivities.

Understanding and accommodating sensory issues can ease discomfort and increase opportunities for autistic people to learn, socialize, communicate and participate in the community. Accommodations might mean modifying the environment, using tools and strategies, or creating new habits or routines. Since sensory needs depend the environment, accommodations may need to be adapted for each setting.

A2Z wants to help you and guide you to understand these sensory issues your child may have. Not only will we help you understand them but we will also help you with a plan that will help manage anxiety and gradually increase tolerance to overwhelming sensory experiences.
