My love language is life. I think about the day ahead in the evenings. I think about the beautiful and unexpected things that are gonna happen. Some of them are them mundane, like cleaning up after myself or my children or my animals. Some of the things I look forward to during the day are a perfect cup of coffee, watching my hummingbirds, the smile from a neighbor ~ sunrises and sunsets. On occasion it even gets more glorious like lunch with a friend, dancing, or a good tear remembering those that you love so much. And even more spectacularly revitalizing are the times when we have wins after a long, hard road of path finding in a dry and weary land. Sometimes there’s an oasis at the end of the road that not only do we get to dip in, but we get to share it with the other thirsty folks.
Yes, life is a series of cleaning up the sand that can drift out of our hands, but it is also an ever present choice to see the joy. And when I see it, I share it.
And that’s good medicine ❤️‍🩹

By the way, I think Valentine’s Day is a holiday that just reminds us to love… we’re kind of forgetful as humans.🩷🌷🩷🌷🩷

I told my students yesterday, there’s enough room for everyone to do 1 million studies on the phenomena of being a human - and we would still need more evidence of self-efficacy and overcoming in this world. We need to heal, now more than ever.

May this research continue to be built upon. May it reach the many who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse for awareness, intervention, and prevention.

The highest experiences for me as a human have come from being a mom. And making my five children proud is the only legacy I need.

Love,

Dr. Holly Davis, A.k.a Mom

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🔦🏮🔆🕯️🪔🧧👀
It’s time to see your life, and validate where you are. What’s more extraordinary is deciding where you want to go. This could be an opportune time to ask for counsel from others. We’re not meant to walk alone on the earth without guidance. We need each other. A strength is asking for insight regarding what you may not see. I guess this is just one of those times of year we get real. We get clarity. We get focused on what we want and what we don’t want. If you would like me to help you with that, I would say that’s one of my specializations: teaching you how to listen to yourself that’s good medicine…
By the way, I don’t know who needs to hear this- change is exciting to those with an open heart❤️

R E S T isn’t a vibe, it’s a thing! I’ve been reminded this year of the importance to my function and immune system that rest is. I see the signs over and over again.
This year (to save me from tears), I started a new thing. If I was tired, I would rest, or cancel or simply stop overbooking myself into an oblivion.
This year, I actually took time to grieve, or stop when I was overwhelmed. I took holidays off. I took real Sundays off, with no work.
Resting my body is not so I can go on stronger. Real rest is alignment with myself. The world can go on without me - but I can’t. And I will not.
I am not leaving Holly while I drag the rest of her around. We go together as a whole, or not at all. This new way has required attunement to MY heart. When I listen, it’s ”I’m tired.” When I received that - I slowed down in honor of myself. My hearts cry cannot be unheard.
All is calm ~ all is bright…
All of my love,

Sometimes peace of mind comes from being alone. Peace may come from being around calm beings. Peace may not be something that can be explained- we may not know what it is…but we know when we don’t have it.
The calm of life can only come when you take time to call on it - regularly - throughout the day. If you’re taking a day off, that means you waited too long. If you have to take a week off, you waited too long. I definitely believe in respite, vacations and retreats in regular intervals as well -but peace starts first thing in the morning.
The morning ritual is to get your head in the game and quiet the soul to get perspective and to not fly out of the house with your hair on fire, and racing thoughts. Squelch the inner noise of fear and trepidation daily. Talk to it. Tell it no. Then tell the chatter what you want for the day, for your life and remember what you’re grateful for. Then you can leave with a quiet soul, which is the quintessential work of psychology. Psychology is healing the soul and you’re the only one that has the healing words for your heart. Make it a practice to tell your heart what it needs - that’s good medicine.

I believe the entire goal of counseling is to learn to live in harmony - with self firstly and then with others.
***How good and pleasant it is to living harmony with one another***

What I Offer

“I believe my specializations are with young people, and addictions. In counseling, my approaches with both of these populations are that I am fully aware of what they are made of, nothing less than that of all of creation, full of God and mad potential. My job is that my clients see that as well.”

“You do not have to continue to suffer, if you want to really live, I can show you the keys to that freedom.” ~ Holly
