This is something I agree with completely. The amount of junk food that is accessible to the underprivileged is astounding. It’s cheap and fills up the bellies of their families. No person or family should go hungry, but it shouldn’t come in the form of poison disguised as food!
I also hear the argument of why don’t they just buy real food? For some, it’s not that easy, considering the budget they are working with. You also have to consider the education background when it comes to health. We all know that smoking is bad for us, but for some you still do it. It’s the same thing with food. We all know that there is junk food, but we still eat it.
The best way to help a person change is by educating them. Not judging them or making them feel bad about their choices. Families are the most vulnerable because the parents are doing the best they can with what they know how to do. It’s why it helps to educate the children about making good healthy choices in diet and lifestyle choices and not just the adults in the home. At some point, those kids are going to grow up and will make their own choices.
Is it foolproof? Of course not. It’s a continued effort in our community and with health professionals that are willing to take their time to educate people about preventative healthcare.
This is what I do and I’m very passionate about it. I am not here to talk about the politics of it or your personal beliefs about holistic medicine or not. I’m here as part of the solution in helping educate my community about preventative healthcare. To understand why habits, mindset, lifestyle choices, your environment and so many other factors are so crucial to your health. Your diet is just one piece of the equation of your health.
