Esther Rodriguez Brown, a humanitarian and healer, born and raised in Spain, arrived to the United States in 2001. She fell in love with yoga practice and meditation in 2002 and since then she has incorporated the practice as a part of her daily spiritual growth. As a natural empath, Esther has a unique way to connect with others, a gift that she utilizes for her work through The Embracing Project

(TEP), a non-profit that she founded in 2007. TEP provides services to children and teen survivors of sex trafficking and gang violence and is the only drop-in center for teenagers’ victim/survivors of sex trafficking in Las Vegas. Esther also owns Ego Friendly Living (EGFL) LLC, a trauma-informed company that provides a safe place for healing and growth. Esther is a certified Reiki practitioner and crystal healer, and she often uses natural essential oils to enhance the process of healing and align the energy of chakras. Esther is a successful Transformational Life Coach inspiring and supporting life changes for many people, especially women. Her sessions allow you to unleash the inner and innate power that we all have, brings clarity in your life purpose, moves you to action, brings positive changes into your path, and helps you to overcome fears that are trapped within due to unhealed trauma or emotional blocks. Esther travels every year to India to expand her education and knowledge on yoga, Ayurveda, pranayama, mudras, and other ancient healing and spiritual practices to help her clients around the world. She also organizes healing and yoga retreats throughout the year in beautiful locations nationally and internationally. She is a recognized national and international speaker and trainer in self-care and trauma-informed care for professionals in the field of mental health, law, education, law enforcement, counselors, non-profit, and advocacy. Esther has been recognized in national and international media, documentaries, books, and films and has received many awards for her humanitarian work with minor survivors of sexual exploitation and gang violence.

We are conditioned to believe that we are merely shadows of our existence, reflections of our ego, or victims of uncontrollable outside forces... but that’s just an illusion.

We are the Self, the part of us that discerns, observes silently, and remains untouched.

Two frameworks have shaped my work as a trauma-informed practitioner more than any others: the ancient Vedic knowledge and the emerging body of research in somatic experiencing to process trauma. What has surprised me most is not how different they are — but how clearly they speak to the same truths.

Both traditions understand that the past lives reside in the body. Both acknowledge that certain experiences are meant to occur — not as punishment, but as opportunities for healing and growth. And both provide practical, embodied tools for engaging with what emerges, rather than just enduring it.

Visit my website and subscribe to this special edition of five-part newsletter series: Karma, The Body, & The Cosmos.

We examine the four types of karma through a trauma-informed perspective, connecting each to what we know about the nervous system, somatic memory, and planetary timing. I have combined classical Jyotish sources — especially the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra and the Bhagavad Gita — with the work of Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, Dr. Peter Levine, and Dr. Stephen Porges, whose research has revolutionized how we understand the body’s connection to experience over time; along with my own personal experience as a trauma survivor and the work that I have been doing with clients for the past 25 years.
