CompassionCare Hospice An Adoration Health Partner Hospice. It isn’t a place; it’s a new way of thinking. About your life-limiting illness, and the way you want to live now.

Advanced medical care can do wonders. But at some point a decision may have to be made — not about ceasing all care, but about weighing the benefits of a certain course of treatment against the burdens of that treatment. Hospice is a different kind of care, one that helps you and your caregivers better manage your pain and symptoms. So that you can more fully experience the time you have left. It’s your life. You can choose how to live it. And every day, more patients and their families are choosing to find hope in hospice. Currently serving the following counties:
Clark, Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Lyon, Storey, and Washoe

For families caring for a loved one with kidney failure, one symptom often comes with a lot of distress: The Itch.

It’s called pruritus, and it’s caused by a buildup of toxins that the kidneys can no longer filter.

An important part of hospice care is tackling symptoms that interrupt comfort. Through specialized lotions, medications, and care techniques, we help soothe the skin and calm the restlessness, allowing your loved one to finally rest comfortably.

For standard hospice patients, curative treatments stop. But for patients with hemophilia, factor is about preventing pain as much as it is about stopping bleeding.

For hemophilia patients who need end-of-life care, choose a hospice agency like ours that understands complex conditions and will fight for the help you need.

Patient safety is a team effort. All of our healthcare professionals — from nurses to certified nursing assistants — are trained on safety, so they can recognize potential hazards faced by patients.

In addition, don’t hesitate to bring up safety questions to our team: They’re there to help you understand how to keep yourself or your loved one secure.

Can’t seem to catch a breath? Try pursed lip breathing.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Relax your neck and shoulders.
2. Inhale slowly through your nose for 2 counts.
3. Pucker your lips as if you are about to whistle or blow out a candle.
4. Exhale slowly through your mouth for 4 counts.

This is one of many techniques taught in Pulmonary Rehab to improve breathing. Exercise training, energy conservation, and nutritional counseling are part of this practice to help patients breathe more easily.

Losing an hour of sleep disrupts all of us, but it may be particularly impactful to those at higher risk of heart attack or stroke. Research shows that both medical emergencies are more common in the days after a time change.

There’s no need to panic; however, just be aware of the signs and contact emergency medical services if necessary: https://nuvi.me/8u5jr8

Today is a day to acknowledge the important work that hospitalists do!

They are the conductors of inpatient care, and their careful coordination is key to making sure patients are properly cared for inside and outside the hospital.

Thank you to these professionals who help patients find the next stop in their healthcare journey.

Dialysis can be a lifeline, but in hospice, the travel, time, and fatigue are no longer necessary.

Instead, we manage the symptoms of kidney failure to make sure that dealing with end-stage kidney disease is as peaceful, comfortable, and dignified as possible.

Gallbladder and Bile Duct cancers are often silent until later stages, which can make their diagnosis a shock.

For families navigating this difficult terrain, the speed of the disease can be overwhelming.

Our role in hospice is to be the steady ground when everything else is moving too fast. With our spiritual assistance and counseling, we can help families find peace while also providing necessary comfort care.
