This YOM KIPPUR was quite unlike any other in decades. Evil has had a field day this past year. No need and no point in recounting all the tragedies, horrors, heinous actions and remarks by barbarians, terrorists, confused, misguided people—you’ve heard it enough times.
HOW DO WE deal with this toxic environment to keep ourselves sane, balanced, reasonable and relatively calm midst the storm?
We can’t escape it — unless you choose to go live on a mountainside in Tibet. Alone. So, there’s hardly a choice. It comes down to more than endurance and patience, waiting for the storm to pass, and often (more so these days) when one passes, there’s a new one right behind it. Forces of evil afoot are coming faster, quicker, more sinister and clever than ever.

Maintaining inner peace and living in harmony with people, above all feeling God’s Peace around you when you’re faced with circumstances far beyond your control… that requires strict discipline. It does not mean ignoring a problem; certainly it does not mean living in denial.
Holocaust survivors could not ignore what was happening around them.
The benefit of catastrophes that we can see and feel, is that we can see and feel them. The evil afoot today is in people’s hands – – unseen, creeping up into the brain, slowly but efficiently taking over, unfelt, fully in control… until it’s too late — it occupies the mind, heart and soul.
It struck me many many years ago how evil the very name of it is: World Wide Web. We can so easily get trapped in it, especially children for whom “games” are specifically targeted and designed to be addictive.
Therein lies the beast.

There is but one way to defeat this enemy: Determination, discernment, discipline—these must be acquired through faith in God our Creator, CHOOSING THE WAY HE has shown us…

More tomorrow. L’Shanah Tovah.

Pentecost. Shavout. This Thursday sundown marks the absolute essence of the Judeo-Christian foundation of our courts and our Constitution based on the moral compass established many thousands of years ago on Sinai.
It was these days leading up to Pentecost (Shavout in Hebrew), the Jews anxiously awaited Moses return from the Mountain where G-d was speaking to Moses, giving direction for this small portion of humanity G-d had chosen to be a light unto the world, to demonstrate the power of the blessings Life and Faith in the Almighty would bring: Ten Commandments that changed the world. Western civilization has been built on the edict written on stone tablets by The Hand of G-d.
Forward a thousand+ years and another very small group of Jews sat waiting. These were the disciples of Jesus, waiting solemnly in a room, knowing Shavout (Pentecost) was coming, hoping, praying for divine direction. This Pentecost, as before, there was fire, but this Shavout was a spiritual reckoning. Not the Finger but the Spirit of God descended, telling these Jews that they were to go forth to illuminate the entire world “so that whoever calls upon The Name of The Lord shall be saved.” Allelujah!

God spoke clearly through Moses and Jesus: to love God means to obey His Commandments. Obedience is key to blessings, to Life, to salvation...to Love, to Wisdom. God’s laws are not w***y nilly or capricious: His laws make us whole, healthy, give us a joyous fulfilled life. ⚓️

Our government tossed prayer, the Bible and God out of schools and out of the workplace a few decades ago. It is now moving toward taking over our children completely with every ungodly woke notion that rises its evil head. Our Nation under God is in cultural, civil and social chaos. We are in a battle to defend The Light against darkness. 🕊

Take some time Thursday and Friday as Believers around the world observe and celebrate Shavout/Pentecost. Consider the value of and thank God for our wonderful Instruction Book.
Keep God’s love held tightly in your spirit and His wise Commandments inscribed on your heart. L’Chaim. 💜

Sam Brown is the new Nevada Director for the Faith & Freedom Coalition—a job I had 20+ years ago. Faith & Freedom is a nationwide organization which seeks to promote voting for GOD’s values when you vote. (There’s a concept!) Join us in the fight for our Nation under God.
Sam is a West Point grad and wears his battle scars beautifully—he can lead us with courage, conviction, unity and Faith in America as we follow the guiding light and moral compass given to us by God in The Constitution.
Gear up!

More Love. No hate.
Kindness, compassion, civility.
The lesson of Yom Kippur is to renew, rejuvenate, reconcile. Renewal and rejuvenation are spiritual acts; reconciliation may require some footwork.
New year resolutions may be between you and the Lord— it may be asking God to refresh your spirit and soul, redirect your heart to a new sense of revival, perhaps to reclaim some lost passion and direction. The Lord is full of Mercy and Grace and grants our hearts desire—if we are pure in heart in asking.
Reconciliation is another story. It may involve repentance, taking time to meet with another human being whom we have wronged or who has wronged us...and we are holding it against them. Our ultimate redemption comes through reconciliation, else how do you love your neighbor as yourself, and in so doing keep your pathway to The Lord clear, open, connected, to fully know Him, walk with Him, above all to love Him and receive His Love.
Our Father has made a Way for us to walk. We can know we are written in the Book of Life. You must have the Blood of the Lamb on the doorpost of your heart. We are (or can be) renewed every morning. Resolve to walk in The Light. Call upon The Name of the Lord for any and all restoration you need. Let God’s love shine through you, especially in these confusing, complicated Times. Don’t be confused—just Stand on the Rock for complete renewal.
As the Days of Awe come to a close, thank God for every blessing that lies ahead in the new year. Ask the Lord for confidence and courage to deal with foes, both physical and spiritual. Guard your heart and mind against the evil that surrounds us. Help every child you can to seek the Lord... Hus Truth. Remember true justice and mercy, and freedom, come from Him. Love.

A New Year is upon us. 5781 has been an unimaginable year... unless your moral compass, your spiritual guiding Light, your physical being and your very soul is planted on a Rock with a Foundation sooooo firm, and you have an Anchor keeping you so steady that you are unshakable midst the storms we have faced and appear to be continuing to face in this new year.
Shabbat Shalom. More tomorrow.
May the blessings of the Most High be with you throughout the days.

The Earth just tilted on its axis to begin the spin back toward the South Pole. Happy Summer! (I’m betting some of you thought it was already here:-)). Did you feel the Earth move? It’s always been fascinating to me that we can tilt and not know it.
That’s a lot like life: It’s very easy to be spinning and spinning, taking care of business... and a tilt comes —but it is imperceptible. We must be ultra discerning. You don’t want to be the frog who doesn’t perceive he is going from cool water and by the time it’s boiling, it’s too late.
I’m going to trust you understand.

May your Summer be blessed and enlightening. 💜🙏🏻🌈

Decades ago when we lived in Missouri, (Jeff was in medical school), I was the tv news weather reporter; it was 11° below zero in the dead of winter. There had been a recent ice storm — something a girl from Las Vegas never even knew existed — and I discovered that the frozen ground and frozen trees, frozen everything, prevented birds and wildlife from feeding! During my news segment, I advocated for everyone to please break through the ice, make open circles and place food for every sort of animal—squirrels, possums, etc., also to hang suet balls in trees, some filled with sunflower seeds (for birds obviously), make hutments for protection and a number of other ideas to be a caregiver for God’s creatures. Saint Francis of Assisi would have been proud of the community efforts.
It was 115° or higher, depending upon where you were, in Las Vegas today. As I was hanging hoses set on drips and mist in my trees for the birds and bees and lizards, etc., I was reminded of -11°. That’s 126° variation in temperature—rather than an ice storm, it’s a heat storm and takes a terrible toll on animals. I desperately wanted to move a hummingbird nest from one of the pine trees, but of course that would not be possible, so I misted it as best I could. In a heat storm, many people do not know that they need to put booties on their dogs paws when walking them. And we have hundreds of wild cats, feral kitties left over from the foreclosure crisis many years ago, now magnified by the unemployment crisis caused by the flu epidemic — people deserting and abandoning their cats. (I cannot tolerate nor fathom cruelty to animals. Shame shame on all such people.) But I digress. Back to heat and cold.
The point: extremes of weather are reminders that we are blessed when the temperature is 77° with an 8 mph breeze. We feel blessed when we face no trials, no extremes of nature, people, politics (those two being the same thing), no shortages, no difficulties, nothing out of balance. Perfect peace. That will happen in Heaven. Meanwhile, spend time everyday being thankful when Life has its 77° days, but be prepared and on the alert for when creatures great and small need your help because of a 180° turn of events.
We are in the midst of radically changing Times and “temperatures” that test our stamina and our character. Extremes abound. If you have your emotional and spiritual thermostat set on 77° to the point that you are indifferent to the outside world... you are to be pitied. Power outages are easily knocked out by ice storms and heat storms—Life’s meteors can hit even when you feel content and comfy, safe and secure, at 77°.
Don’t be complacent. Be prepared.
77° can feel perfect – – but if there is a drought, fires can easily start at that temperature. (Scripture tells us time after time, the sky will be filled with signs and wonders, clouds of smoke...)
All this is said to say, everyday find ways to help God’s creatures: bees and butterflies, cats and dogs, birds, giraffes and elephants (seen one in the room lately? :-))—but most of all, the human beings around you, young and old and in between. So many are oblivious to the extremes and the coming storms. Ask the L-rd for Wisdom: where to break up ice, where to place mist.
L-rd bless you. Shalom.
