Tart cherry night treat is a hit for my boys!
Tart cherry night treat
This recipe has a bit of prep work. It is not hard but just needs to be done.
1 bottle tart cherry juice to make soda
1/2 cup ginger bug liquid
-Raw organic ginger
-Raw organic sugar
-water, I like to use distilled
About 6-8 cups tart cherry soda
About 3 cups of seaweed gel
1 package plumpp purple sea moss
2 cups water
3 drops Lime doterra essential oils
1 cup of gelatin - beef or fish is my favorite
1 cup of water to bloom
2 cups water for gelatin
1 tsp salt Maldon salt
1/2 cup honey
I take tart cherry juice and make soda from it to lower the sugar and to break down the nutrients to be more bioavailable. I use 1/2 cup ginger bug. To make ginger bug take ginger rizome with skin on chopped into a glass jar. Add raw sugar and water. Let sit on the counter feeding it 1 tsp chopped ginger and 1 tsp raw sugar a day for 2 weeks. Once it is bubbly and active you can use the liquid to make soda from any kind of juice you like. For best results use juice that doesn't have additives.
To make the soda you put 1/2 cup of your ginger bug in a flip top bottle and fill with your juice. Leave at least 2 inches from the top for bubbles. Leave on the counter for 3 days, burping (opening the top) each day. Once you have a good pop it is ready. Put in the fridge for one more day to enhance the flavor.
Once you have your soda, get the pan you would like to make your jelly in to determine the amount that will fit. I use a 18 inch by 12 inch pan. I put all my ingredients in a mixing bowl.
You also need to prep your sea moss gel. Take your sea moss. I prefer purple for the extra nutrients. I use a full package of the plumpp 1.4 oz purple sea moss. Place it in a large glass jar. I use half a gallon jar. Fill with water and add the juice on one lime. Let sit on the counter for 3 days. Once it is fully hydrated remove from the water. I love plumpp seaweed because it was fully one plant. I did not have a lot of little pieces so it is very easy to handle and rinse. Rinse this then put in your blender. I add 2 cups of water and 3 drops of lime oil. Blend and it is ready to use.
To make the gelatin, take 1 cup of gelatin and 1 cup of water to bloom. That just means to stir the water and gelatin powder and let sit for a few minutes. In a small pot put 2 cups of water and the bloomed gelatin. Stir until all is dissolved. Let cool for just 2 mins before adding into the tart cherry and seaweed gel.
Add it all together and mix thoroughly as you add the gelatin mixture in. Pour into the pan and put into the fridge over night or at least 3 hours. Slice into 1 inch squares. You could pour in to a jar and scoop our a tablespoons each night.
There are other things you can add into this like raw milk or magnesium but this is a great base and works wonders on my kids. If you are adding more liquid be sure to add more gelatin to keep it more like jello. From these gels you are getting extra protein from the gelatin, hydration and minerals from the seamoss and salt, and good probiotic and nutrients from the tart cherry soda. My kids love it and say the gels taste better each day. This has been a great addition to our night time routine. With this and Serenity stick we use on their chest right before bed we have good nights.
