A year ago they were taking you up to Orlando for intense cognitive therapy - seems like a lifetime of ups and downs for you Dayle and yet through all the s**t that has been handed to you - you persevere.
There is a fighter in you, that is something that could not be taken away the morning you were struck down.....there is a fire in your soul that keeps you moving forward.
On this - your 3rd or 4th birthday (as you relate to the accident and where you are in your new life) - I wish you peace, I wish you happiness, I wish that every day you grow closer to who you remember yourself to be.
I love ya Dayle, Happy Birthday my friend.

Dayle's recovery has been progressing well physically, as we know she has amazing drive and is determined to return to her strong and healthy self, this being the reason she is with us today, I am truly blessed to still have my beautiful daughter in my life, sadly Dayles progression mentally has been slow she has been diagnosed with severe aphasia and is in need of intense rehabilitation well into the future in order to help her live her life in a productive way. She was taken by Nic and Kim yesterday for her appointment at Bascon Palmer Institute to have her eyes tested by a neuro opthomologist, she was scanned to determine the eye connection to her brain, the scan showed damage to the peripheral vision in her right eye caused by the initial trauma to her brain, she is unable to see to the right of her eye, she also has double vision. Glasses are being prescribed which will give her 20/30 vision and this should increase her quality of life considerably. We are still waiting to hear if Nic and Suzanne's immigration application has been successful thus enabling them to live in America and to care for Dayle and the children.
I am lost for words when attempting to express my gratitude for the generosity and support shown for Dayle, the outpouring of love towards my daughter has been truly overwhelming, without your kind donations we surely would have floundered by now. Dayle has always been a beautiful and caring daughter to me, with her zest for life she has surrounded herself with many wonderful and loyal friends, some of which I have been fortunate enough to have met and spent good times with, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your continued support for Dayle and for us, her family, during this difficult and life changing journey. With love and appreciation.... Diane (Dayles Mom)###

It’s been awhile and i apologize. It’s difficult to find something positive to say when there is very little to report that’s different than a month ago.
But, I was reminded via FB that one year ago today I was fortunate to spend a night with Dayle and our girl mimi at grille 66.
We drank great wine. Over indulged in a culinary feast and laughed our asses off. (They knew to put us in a corner table down below).
I miss you Dayle.
We ALL miss you Dayle.
Just when you think Dayle doesn’t need our help. You’re wrong. She needs us more now than ever.
Insurance is gone.
Savings are gone.
What we’ve raised so far is what is keeping her family afloat.
And that balance isn’t great.
She can’t earn money.
She can only hug you.
And she may not know your name. But the love in her eyes and the strength in her hugs - it’s enough for me to keep fighting.
I hope it is for y’all too.
Happy holidays.
From Dayle to all of you.

Alitte about Ms Dayle

On the morning of Thursday April 12th 2018 after dropping her twin 9 year old children off at school - our dear friend Dayle Louwrens went for her daily morning run - same route she has taken every morning for the past 3 years. That morning took a different turn - Dayle was struck down by a car in the early morning hours less than a mile into her daily run. Same route, same time she took every morning.

Dayle came to the USA from South Africa working in the yachting industry - found America to be the place she loved to raise her two beautiful children. Not easy being a single mom but she loved life more than most people I have ever met. To spend time with Dayle meant you were going to laugh - ALOT!

Dayle is in ICU and has swelling on the brain. Her doctors are optimistic but her recovery is unknown. Minimum would be a year of intense rehabilitation but there is no way of knowing how complicated the injury to her brain is until the swelling goes down and she wakes up.

Dayle was not only one of MY best friends but to countless others she touched lives and always in a positive way. She is a daughter, a mother, a friend, a colleague. She is gregarious, generous, hilarious - her laughter rings in my ears as I type this.
