Restore Breastfeeding Support Coverage for Families with Blue Cross Blue Shield in Mississ

I am very disheartened to share that South Mississippi Breastfeeding Services will no longer be able to accept Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. This decision affects a large majority (about 75%) of the families we serve. This is the result of a decision made between The Lactation Network and BCBS.
Reimbursements from BCBS were a huge portion of our funding as a private practice.
That aside, I am heart broken to know that lack of coverage for these moms will become a barrier for lactation support. I will continue to offer cash discounts for private pay for those not covered.
I am hopeful that BCBS and TLN will continue to work toward a mutual agreement in the future so that moms will have access to the care and support they deserve.

🎉 We congratulate Clarisse Agbegnenou, French Judo champion, for her successful advocacy work - athletes at the 2024 Olympics in Paris will be offered hotel rooms they can share with their breastfeeding children close to the 10,000 population athletes' village. 🥋

🧡💙💚 Clarisse said "To put things in perspective, I've decided to breastfeed my daughter until she's weaned. She hasn't yet, so I'm following her. I've made sure that I feel good physically, because of course there's an element of tiredness. But as a mother who needs to be very present for my daughter, I asked for the opportunity to have her with me during the Olympics." 🤱🏻🤱🏽🤱🏿

I had the pleasure of sharing some bottle feeding and oral therapy tips with the best team at Insight Therapy Center, LLC

Did you know we offer bottle refusal consults?I am always looking to expand my knowledge to better help you meet your breastfeeding goals. This often includes pumping and offering expressed milk (or formula) at some point! I recently completed an additional certification for bottle refusal and have a few more “tools in my belt” to help take the stress out of bottle feeding.

If you’re planning to introduce the bottle soon or have already tried and had difficulty, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or another IBCLC that has experience with bottle refusal 🤍

Last Thursday we had the opportunity to learn from our very own, Laken Miller with South MS Breastfeeding Services, PLLC, about infant feeding! We were so grateful she shared her wealth of knowledge with us and provided us with the latest information! 🍼
