SCRMC is proud to use the EnVisio surgical device to aid in surgery, particularly breast surgery. The device uses radio frequency to help locate particular areas of tissue that have been located through X-ray or ultrasound and marked by a radiologist.

"I think South Central does a great job of allowing us to keep on top of new technology," South Central general surgeon Chad Saul, MD, said. "EnVisio is an example of staying on top of technology. This is relatively new technology in the last few years that's improving the accuracy of breast biopsy surgery."

A new era of connected care has begun, and we’re just getting started!

South Central Regional Medical Center, together with consortium partners Covington County Hospital, Magee General Hospital, Simpson General Hospital and Smith County Emergency Hospital, officially launched the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system on Jan. 31 — marking a historic milestone for South Mississippi. The coordinated go‑live of five Mississippi hospitals in a single day represents one of the region’s largest unified health technology transformations to date.

This Cardiac Rehab Week, we are sharing the story of Robert and Cathy Sloan, whose early actions and commitment to recovery reflect the importance of being proactive with your heart health.

What started as a routine visit and an honest conversation about family history led to a discovery that required immediate care, followed by months of steady progress in our Cardiac Rehab Program.

Their experience shows that a healthier future begins with creating clear lines of communication with your health care team and showing up for yourself day after day.

Read their complete story at https://scrmc.com/as-serious-as-a-heart-attack/. To learn more about cardiac rehab or Wellness Center memberships, call 601-399-0530.

SCRMC is proud to take part in National Wear Red Day to support awareness of women’s heart health. Heart disease is the leading threat to women’s health, and early action and education can save lives.

We encourage our community to learn the signs of heart disease, talk with their health care providers and support the women who inspire us every day.
