You are not alone in your stress this holiday season. đź’›

A 2023 survey by the American Psychological Association found that 89% of U.S. adults feel stressed during the holidays — and 41% say it’s even higher than usual during this time.

Between limited time, financial pressure, gift-giving, and family expectations, it’s no wonder the season can feel overwhelming. For many, this stress can lead to anxiety, depression, or burnout.

It’s important to remember that you’re not alone in feeling this way — and you’re not powerless against it. Taking small steps like setting boundaries, simplifying traditions, and giving yourself permission to rest can make a difference.

But if the stress feels too heavy, help is always available. đź’¬

Prioritize Your Mental Health This Holiday Season đź’›

The holidays can be joyful, but they can also be stressful, overwhelming, or emotionally heavy. Here are some practical ways to take care of your mental health:

• Set Boundaries: It’s okay to say no to events, tasks, or spending that feel too much. Protecting your time and energy is a form of self-care.
• Maintain Routines: Try to keep up with regular sleep, exercise, and meal schedules. Even small routines can help you feel grounded amid the holiday chaos.
• Manage Expectations: Let go of the idea of a “perfect” holiday. Focus on what really matters to you, rather than comparing your celebrations to others.
• Practice Self-Compassion: Acknowledge your emotions without judgment. It’s okay to feel happy, sad, or even both at the same time. Give yourself grace.
• Stay Connected: Spend time with supportive friends or family. Connection is key to feeling grounded and cared for.

Remember, it’s normal to feel overwhelmed or anxious during the holidays—and seeking help is a sign of strength. If your stress or sadness feels too heavy, professional support is available. Call or text 988 anytime.

You are not alone. đź’›

Mental health matters everywhere — including rural America.

Rural communities experience higher rates of depression and su***de, yet face fewer mental health resources and greater stigma around seeking help. đź’›

If you’re struggling, know this: needing support isn’t a weakness — it’s human. Talking about mental health openly helps reduce stigma and makes care more accessible for everyone.

Here are a few ways to take action:
✅ Check in with neighbors, friends, and family — connection saves lives.
✅ Reach out for help, even if it’s virtual — telehealth can bridge the gap where in-person services are limited.
âś… Share mental health resources with your community.

If you need someone to talk to, help is available:
📞 Call or text 988 for the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline — free, 24/7, and confidential.
đź’» Find rural mental health support and telehealth options at 988lifeline.org/help-yourself/

Let’s work together to make sure every community — no matter how rural — has access to the care and understanding they deserve.
