V’ata Banim Shiru (VBS) is the annual high school boys a cappella competition benefitting the Koby Mandell Foundation. Started in 2010, VBS has included teams from DRS, HANC, JEC, MTA, Rambam, SAR, and TABC. Our judges panel has consisted of popular names such as Yerachmiel Begun, Simcha Leiner, Aryeh Kunstler, David Block, Ari Lewis and many many more. Eitan Katz and the Maccabeats are among some
of our past musical guests. In addition VBS has been featured in publications such as The Jewish Star (NY), The Jewish Home (NY), The Jewish Standard (NJ), and The Jewish Link (NJ). Our goal with VBS is to help raise funds and awareness for the Koby Mandell Foundation while promoting Jewish music within yeshiva high schools. When combining all years of VBS, we have now raised over $6,000 for the Koby Mandell Foundation. The Koby Mandell Foundation helps families in Israel effected by terrorism. Their therapeutic summer camps contain more than 400 children who have lost loved ones in terrorist attacks. Additionally, Sherri Mandell, Koby’s mother directs a Mothers Healing program for bereaved mothers.
