Help Us Build an Adaptive Toy Library! 🌟

Did you know that there are so many children in our area and surrounding counties who could benefit from access to adapted toys—toys designed to meet the needs of children with disabilities? These toys are incredible learning tools, but they are also very expensive and often out of reach for families, schools, and daycares.

That’s why Giving Beyond Words, in partnership with The Bailey Center is starting an Adaptive Toy Library! 🎉 Families, teachers, and therapists will be able to check out adapted toys for free, return them, and try something new—just like borrowing books at a library.

We’re also excited to launch a local SWITCHED Club, where teens and young adults in the community will help us adapt toys so that even more children can enjoy them.

I’d like to give a HUGE thank you to everyone that donated recently to help us get outdoor toys for opening day at the ballpark! The kids really enjoyed picking bubbles, balls and buckets to take home to play with. As always every child also got a book. It’s our prayer that these things will provide an opportunity for the families to spend a few minutes doing these activities together! Then this weekend we got to participate in the Easter event in Lawrenceville. There were so many children and we got to see lots of familiar faces and get some hugs from some of our favorite people! Looking forward to the next event ❤️❤️❤️

Giving Beyond Words first event of the year kicks off next weekend! Last year we had been blessed with a wonderful donation of outdoor toys we were able to give away. This year we want to do this again but need to buy our own toys to give away.

*****Research has shown that Outdoor play in early childhood is crucial for school readiness and success, fostering cognitive, social, and emotional development that translates into improved academic performance and overall well-being.

By providing outdoor toys and books to the children in our community we are helping prepare our youth for academic success.

This past Friday night could not have gone any better! For the 2nd year we were blessed to be able to create a magical environment for the kids to come and start their Christmas celebrations! We started the year off with only $600 in our account for Giving Beyond Words. We went all year, able to buy toys and books for this amazing event and the 10 other events we had participated in. Finally in October the money was running out and we had to start raising some more. The Lord saw the need and the donations came flooding. We may be a small community but the hearts of those living here are so big! I am so proud to be a part of such an amazing community and pray what we are doing with Giving Beyond Words is blessing others as much as it has blessed us. A small idea that came out of my Speech therapy business 2 years ago is growing into something that is going to do big things!!! Merry Christmas and thank you to everyone that has helped us grow❤️🎄

Last night we had the pleasure to start the holiday celebrations in Lawrenceville at the Christmas tree lighting. The Grinch and Cindy Lou gave out lots of books and gloves to all the kids that came! It was cold but we still had a great time. Make sure to join us Friday to get a picture with Santa by Shemeka J Photography and get and toy and book for all kids that attend. We will also have hot chocolate and cookies. The perfect way to warm up after the parade!

First fundraiser for Giving Beyond Words! Grab some stew and help us raise funds for books for the kids in our community! We appreciate all the support we have received this year❤️ A special shout out to Michael Lopresti and Southside contractors, as well as Lynn and Jeff Cody for recent donations towards our Christmas events! We are so so grateful.

We may have been quiet on social media this year, but Giving Beyond Words has not been quiet in our community. We have been beyond blessed to operate this better year so far based on donations we got last year! We have been a part of 10 community events and have given away balls, summer toys, stuffed animals, school supplies, well over 1000 books and countless hugs! Blessed is an understatement. We enjoy all of the smiling faces we get to see at each event and can’t wait for the upcoming Christmas ones! We have come to the point that we need some help again. Gently used toys and books are ALWAYS welcome! But this is the time of the year where monetary donations become important. There have been no grants available to apply for until now and if approved that money won’t start until first of the year. We want to be able to give away books and stuffed animals at the Christmas tree lighting and do a Santa’s workshop to give a free NEW toy to every kid that comes through after the Christmas parade. I also want to provide a free age appropriate book to all the elementary kids in Brunswick county public school like we did last year. I’m going to create a fundraiser link and post that! Any amount helps. If you want me to meet with you to grab a donation I’ll be happy too. We are also hosting a stew on 11/23 to raise funds! I’ll post that separate. Thank you for all of your support and help through the last 2 years! Now let’s try to make this holiday season the best one yet!!!

Giving Beyond Words was able to spend both weekends of spring break doing what we love! Getting books and toys to kids in our community ❤️ The Lawrenceville Easter Egg hunt was a huge success, where we gave out bibles, books and bubbles! Thanks to the generosity of Renee and Wade Little, we had 100 FULL SIZW New Testament bibles for the Easter weekend event! And on 4/6 we got to celebrate the opening day at the ballpark giving books, BALLS and other outdoor toys to kids to kick off what we know is going to be an incredible ball season. We are so grateful for Jennifer Boswell and Dollar General for the amazing donation that made this possible. Next event planned with be Christmas in July at Sparks in the Park. If you have any gently used books or toys you want to donate, we are always taking donations and would love to hear from you!

Hi friends! Giving Beyond Words is excited to announce our upcoming events for this year! The website has been updated and there is an option for donations😊 Last year we were able to get over 1500 books into childrens hands, give away countless toys and join together with the community to build relationships with so many new friends! We received over $4000 in donations to make all of this happen. That was our first year!!! We have scheduled more events this year and look forward to getting books and toys to children in our community and meet new people through the process! They say it takes a village to raise a child and we are aiming to make our small community village strong for our developing children! But we can’t do this alone. Please share the website and if you feel lead to donate it will go directly into items for the children! We currently have a fundraiser open to collect money to buy books for the Elementary and Headstart children in Brunswick County, VA. Books will be distributed before Christmas Break.

This is what $300 worth of toys on sale looks like. Luckily here at the end of the year Giving Beyond Words had a little money left to purchase toys for next year. However, I hope we need way more!!!!!!
I started a fundraiser to allow anyone who would like to donate money towards our Christmas collection for next year! No amount is too small! We are so proud of what our little charity has accomplished in its first year and cannot wait to see where next year takes us!!! Happy holidays!
