I'm thinking about all my fellow midwives (regardless of training, letters behind their name, or country of residence).

Passion brought us all to this work. Many of us give it all and have very little left for ourselves. Many of us have made peace with exhaustion. Many of us have rationalized missing family events and the milestones of our own children. Many of us guiltily question our professional choices from time to time - even though there is nothing more we love more than taking care of those who seek us out. Most of us are not paid what we are worth and yet we show up everyday to give professional advice and counsel.

We need to focus on our mental health and wellness.

Are you working on your dream? Every product and service available to us was once a seed of thought in someone's mind. An idea. A dream... manifested with a lot of behind-the-scene work.

I thought mindfulness meant meditating.  I was wrong!

I used to equate being mindful with the idea of sitting cross-legged and emptying the mind in a calm and serene space. I was so far off.

Being mindful literally means purposely focusing your attention on the present moment while tuning in to your thoughts, feelings, and sensations.

It's a noticing.  Here☝🏾, it's the warmth of the cup in my hands, savoring the taste, the feeling of the tea going down, the aroma, my breath, feeling relaxed.

Midwife burnout is real! Birth worker burnout is real! Provider burnout is real!

Hi, I'm Kylie-Ann and I am a CNM practicing in the Atlanta area. Being a midwife is soooo rewarding but it is also very emotionally and physically demanding.

We do this work because we are passionate about women's health. Isn't it ironic that many of us, while giving the best care to others, neglect our own health and wellness in the process?

Sound familiar?

Forced to find a way to deal with midwife stress, I discovered mindfulness.

The community is large. Many of us are struggling and need help finding balance. Here, I will share what I've learned.
