For my first review/contribution to this endeavor, it is my pleasure to visit my favorite taco truck on the road... Taqueria jzapata... located near Drums, PA on I-80.

This man is serious about his product. He travels to the produce market in the Bronx to acquire the finest Mexican cilantro, also gets his tortillas from a tortilleria in NYC. The food here is outstanding. I regularly hear him lecturing customers about showing courtesy to us truckers, so that earns him a gold star from this trucker.

Today, I went with my usual - 6 pork carnitas tacos. The carnitas here are seasoned well, with perfect texture. Not too crispy, not too soggy. Onions and cilantro are freshly chopped. The habenaro salsa is serious business. It will get you high as hell, should you consume an adequate amount. 8 bucks for 3 good sized tacos.

Sometimes, if I have the appitite, I'll also order a "Burrito Loco"... a 5 pound monster that will bust your gut... it's so good, your taste buds and endorphin rush won't let you stop when your belly is done.

Today we review Mr. Taco on Bowden Rd. Just east of I95. They have all manner of topping and shell choice. They lightly fry the corn tortillas the way I get them. We were joined by the beautiful Brandi for today's adventure. We got a guacamole side and she had fajitas. I had 3 tacos for 5.75 an asada, chorizo, and an el pastor.

Today we reviewed Pepe's Hacienda. It is between university and San Jose on St. Augustine rd. Tucked in the back of the plaza behind Sun Trust bank. Pepe's is one of my favorites. The traditional tacos are 1.50. For 2.25 though you can have tacos pepe. Tomato, cheese, sour cream, and a nice chunk of avocado. At 6'4", and 210 lbs I still can't eat 3. Murals on the wall, soccer on TV in Spanish. Market attached...Feels like California. Legendary key tickler Tom Bennett joined again. He is coming to grips with his taco addictions. As usual good service and great food. Well played Pepe....

Today Jax Taco Recon reviews Tapatio on 103rd st. Its in the plaza next to IHOP a little west of I-295. It is a favorite of mine for some straight up traditional style tacos. They have a bar if you want a margarita or the ultimate taco beer...negra modelo.. Thanks Tom Bennet for joining today's recon. Traditionally you eat them with others.
