UPDATE July 11 7:30am - From Chaffee County Government: As of 0730am, Friday July 11, the Mountain View Fire northwest of Buena Vista is considered 50% contained. There was no spread overnight. Crews continue to work to extinguish spot fires and mop up hotspots. Evacuation of the Mountain View Estates neighborhood and preChaffee County Sheriff's Officeee County Sheriff's Office
Information shared at the 0600am briefing from Chaffee Sheriff and team, Chaffee County Fire Protection District, Salida Fire Department, and US U.S. Forest Service - PSICC National Forest Fire Management Officer indicate that fire response will continue through the day, with weather data favorable for continued fire control.
The Chaffee County Public Safety Complex at 200 Steele Drive, Buena Vista is open today for persons needing assistance.

UPDATE July 10 4:55pm - Smoke is heavy in Leadville, Twin Lakes and Lake County. Please do not call 911 for smoke unless you see active flames in your location, or incase of emergency. As of now HWY 24 remains open, but please check COTrip.org for road closures if you are traveling to/from the south. Refer to Chaffee County Sheriff's Office for updates and evacuations on the Mount View Fire.
If you need a place to evacuate animals, Ark Valley Humane Society at 701 Gregg Dr. will accept small animals. Large animals can be taken to the Buena Vista Radio Grounds on County Road 321, per the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office.

Wildfire Update in Chaffee County: A wildfire in the Mountain View Estates area near Buena Vista has triggered a mandatory evacuation within a 5-mile radius.
Evacuees should report to the Buena Vista Sheriff’s Office at 200 Steele Drive.
