Emergency care evolves quickly — and staying current is part of delivering safe, high-quality patient care.

From trending labs and updated protocols to evolving approaches in cardiac, trauma, toxicology, and mental health emergencies, ENPs rely on ongoing, emergency-specific education to support sound clinical decision-making in fast-paced environments.

This is exactly why AAENP continues to expand education opportunities through our CE Center, national conference, and evidence-based resources.

Learning doesn’t stop after certification — and neither does emergency care.

One of the most valuable parts of EmergNP happens between the sessions.

Every year, the conference brings together emergency nurse practitioners from across the country who share a commitment to advancing emergency care.

These conversations — in hallways, during meals, and between sessions — create connections that last well beyond the conference.

EmergNP is more than education. It’s a community of clinicians dedicated to strengthening the future of emergency practice.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to Nashville in 2026!

Clinical Spotlight: Beta-Blocker Toxicity in the Emergency Department

Beta-blocker overdoses remain a significant contributor to cardiovascular toxic exposures presenting to emergency departments. These cases can lead to serious complications including bradycardia, hypotension, shock, and life-threatening cardiac instability.

A recent review published in the medical literature explores pharmacotherapy management strategies for beta-blocker toxicity, highlighting key considerations for emergency clinicians responsible for rapid stabilization and treatment.

For emergency nurse practitioners, understanding evolving treatment approaches — including the use of glucagon, high-dose insulin therapy, and vasopressors — remains essential in managing these high-risk toxicologic emergencies.

Staying current with emerging evidence helps strengthen clinical decision-making when minutes matter.

If you’ve felt stretched thin lately, you’re not alone.

Emergency practice can be intensely meaningful, but it can also bring burnout, compassion fatigue, and moral injury — especially when you’re doing everything you can for patients inside a system that doesn’t always support the work.

This is your reminder:
You weren’t meant to carry the hardest parts of emergency care by yourself.

AAENP isn’t just about education and advocacy — it’s also about community. A place where ENPs can connect with people who truly understand emergency medicine realities.

If you need a professional “home base,” we’re here:
- SIG communities
- ENP networking + mentorship
- Resources designed specifically for emergency care

Take a breath. Check in with yourself. And if you need your people, come find us. 🤍
