This just needs to be said and heard, louder for the people in the back!

Let’s just say it out loud: the horse world has a gatekeeping problem.

If you do things your way, you’re “doing it wrong.”
If you charge for your time, knowledge, or experience, you’re “only in it for the money.”
Feed alfalfa? People say you’re asking for colic.
Feed coastal? You’re starving them.
Barefoot? You’re irresponsible.
Shoes? You’re cruel.

The reality is this: too many horse people are more interested in judging each other than helping each other.

We all say we love horses, but sometimes we forget to show that same love to the people who are out here doing their best to care for them.

There is more than one right way to raise, train, ride, feed, and manage horses.

Some horses live in pastures.
Some live in stalls.
Some get regular bodywork and chiropractic.
Some get turnout and a salt lick.
Some horses trail ride barefoot and happy.
Others are shod, clipped, and compete at high levels.
They are all valid. They are all deserving of good care.

And so are the people who love them.

Let’s normalize asking questions instead of shaming people for doing things differently.
Let’s support the quiet, hardworking horse owners instead of criticizing them behind their backs.
Let’s stop assuming “our way” is the only way.

Because at the end of the day, horses don’t care about your Facebook opinion.
They care about consistent hands, kind treatment, good feed, and someone who shows up.

Train your horse. Ride your horse. Love your horse.
And let other people do the same.

The goal is better horses — not bigger egos.

THIS!!! Throughout my years of owning and writing and training and breeding horses and especially performance horses, it is so important to make sure that the mechanics of the horse and movement is proper. If you don't start out your training with proper movement, your horse is gonna be destined to fail for the rest of their life.

Facebook Community - We need your help!
It would appear that we accidentally left a red "Husky" brand tote containing radiograph supplies somewhere in the last week or so... Have you seen it??
The tote should contain lead vests (blue in color), duct tape, hoof pick, and perhaps a few other tools we use to take radiographs. We would really like it back!

If we accidentally left it with you, please call our office and we can orchestrate its safe return to us. 541.207.8308

Thank you ❤

Ever wonder why cowboys rode with MOHAIR over 100 years ago? Because it’s just darn good stuff! Before the days of synthetics and fancy marketing, yesteryear’s cowboys had enough horse sense to discern that breathable, moisture-wicking natural fiber would be well suited for long days in the saddle—keeping a horse comfortable and sound. Today, the long silky hair of the Angora goat, aka The Diamond Fiber, is synonymous with fine luxury goods. But don’t let that fool you! Just as diamonds are elegant, they’re also the toughest substance on earth. The same is true for a ThunderCloud. Our Mohair saddle blankets will provide a cloud like enhancement to your ride NATURALLY, and for years to come. At ThunderCloud we’re creating the next generation of saddle blankets with your horse’s comfort in mind.

HOW AND WHY DO HORSES GET ULCERS?

Equine gastric ulcers can affect any horse of any age. Up to 90% of racehorses and 60% of show horses, as well as non-performance horses and even foals are affected by equine gastric ulcers. Gastric ulcers result from the erosion of the stomach lining due to a prolonged exposure to the normal acid present in the stomach.

Unlike ulcers in humans, bacteria do not appear to cause equine gastric ulcers. Instead, this condition is often a man-made disease. Stall confinement alone can lead to the development of ulcers. A horse’s feeding schedule and high-grain diets can also contribute to the development of ulcers.

Stress, both environmental and physical, can increase the likelihood of ulcers, as can hauling, training, and mixing groups of horses. Strenuous exercise can decrease the emptying of the stomach as well as the blood flow, thus further contributing to the problem.

The treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers is directed at removing these predisposing factors, therefore decreasing acid production within the horse’s stomach. Prevention of ulcers is the key in helping your horse, as neutralizing the production of stomach acid is nature’s best antacid.

Please note that the only way to definitively diagnose ulcers is through a gastroscopy. An equine veterinarian should always be consulted in any case of suspected gastric ulcers to determine the best course of action and treatment for the individual horse.

Skipping steps and rushing the process can be very detrimental to our horses. It’s not a race to see who can get one trained the fastest.

Train for the horse not for the video.

Be present through the process, realizing where your horse is at so that you can be realistic with your expectations.

This doesn’t mean every day should be simple. Progress is made through challenges. We should be challenging ourselves and our horses past our comfort zone at times. We need to work through the challenge and hold our horses accountable before we move onto something else.

Learn to love the whole process, not just the win!

Be patient.
Be present.
Be persistent.
