I’m about to walk into the Bushnell Sage Library to give a talk on healing with our Spring Plant Allies… 🌿 and it still feels a little surreal. To be able to speak about something I love so deeply… plants, healing, relationship, the quiet magic of the natural world… and share that with others in my own community… This is the work.

Happy Easter 🐇 This day always feels like a quiet weaving of memory and meaning for me… rooted in the stories of Jesus Christ, whose teachings of love, forgiveness, and renewal still echo, and of Mary Magdalene, who remained devoted, present, and witnessing even in the most sacred and difficult moments.

🐣 Easter carries that deeper current of resurrection and becoming, mirrored in the earth itself… eggs as symbols of new life, bunnies and chicks as gentle reminders of fertility, growth, and the return of warmth after winter’s stillness. Even the timing of Easter is guided by the cosmos, celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the Spring Equinox, a beautiful reflection of how the rhythms of the moon and sky continue to shape our traditions and our lives. Wishing you a day filled with renewal, softness, and the quiet magic of beginning again 🌿

✨ There is a moment just before the light disappears when the world grows quiet. The air stills, the edges soften, and if you are paying attention, something begins to shift. I found myself thinking about this the other day while standing in the shop, my eyes resting on the Obsidian Scrying Mirrors we carry.

🪞That same dark, reflective surface humans have looked into for centuries… seeking meaning, guidance, something just beyond what we can easily explain. Water, flame, stone… we have always known how to soften our gaze and wait.

And yet, in many ways, we are still doing this today… just differently.

This piece is a reflection on scrying 🌑 what it is, where it comes from, how to practice it safely, and how this ancient way of seeing may still be unfolding through the modern “Black Mirrors” we carry with us every day. It weaves together story, history, and spiritual reflection, gently inviting us to consider where we place our attention, what we open ourselves up to, and whether we are still the ones who are looking… or something being looked into.

Elderberry Syrup + Fire Cider Make + Take

There is something ancient about dried flowers bound by hand.
Before trends 🌹
Before algorithms 🌷
Before the word “Smudge” was used loosely and often without context.
Across cultures, smoke has long been a bridge… a visible prayer rising. While certain ceremonial smoke practices belong to specific Indigenous traditions and should be honored as such, many cultures have their own ways of working with aromatic plants for purification and blessing.

In Celtic lands… the ancestral soil of my Scottish and Irish lineage… Druids and folk practitioners burned Mugwort, Rosemary, and other herbs in rites… Saining is an ancient Scottish Highland practice of blessing, purifying, and protecting people, livestock, and homes from evil spirits that commonly involves using sacred water and smoke, particularly Juniper or Rowan, to cleanse spaces and banish negativity.

In parts of England, herbal fumigation was simply referred to as “Censing” or “Reeking” a space. In Italian folk tradition, protective herbs were burned or hung to guard the home from the Malocchio, the evil eye, blending Catholic and older agrarian customs into everyday devotion.
Smoke has always been about intention 🤲🏻
