This book is excellent in helping us to understand our understanding of trauma, particularly complex trauma. Interestingly I was reading it while waiting for my kiddos today when I overheard a father tell his 8-9 yo son that he had sh*t for brains bc he couldn’t figure out his belt buckle. 😞
Fantastic book for the mentally and perhaps physically overloaded wife/mom/worker...I caution you about reading this whilst in the midst of a pandemic as negative feelings may arise. I do highly recommend reading it WITH your spouse but don’t expect everyone to jump on board right away!
I just wanted to remind every adult who still gets to go to work, either in body or virtually, and who experiences some part of normalcy, remember that your children do not. The message from my kiddos and teens this week has been clear: I just want it to be normal and I just want to be back in school. We are asking them to isolate, they can’t get jobs, there is no structure to their days...and for how many days. Help provide structure. Older children can make their own schedule. Younger children will need help. Then make them adhere to it. In the long run, this will benefit all.
This is a fantastic parenting book. Gives you great language to use!
If you have a daughter, this is a must read!
Hello all...please consider supporting this great organization, All Ages Read Together, that provides preschool to children who don’t meet the financials for Head Start and who cannot afford the preschools many of us sent our children to. This program basically helps get children kindergarten ready and exposes children to a classroom setting when they might otherwise have not had this exposure. Education is key!!!!
