Hey Everyone! I know I haven’t been active on here much over the past year. You guys have been keeping me so busy that I haven’t been able to open my book any more than what it is. And for that, I humbly thank you!
So, in an effort to stay engaged with everyone, I’m going to try a weekly write up on health and general wellness. Informational purposes only! Let’s start with the most essential thing we can give our bodies. Give it a read!
Hydration 101: Why You Should Drink More Water!
Did you know that our bodies are about 60% water? Staying hydrated is key to keeping our systems running smoothly, but many of us don't drink enough water each day. Here's why hydration is crucial:
**1. Boosts Physical Performance:** Water helps regulate body temperature, lubricates joints, and prevents muscle cramps. Whether you're an athlete or just going for a walk, hydration can enhance your performance.
**2. Keeps Skin Healthy:** Water helps flush out toxins, which can reduce acne and keep your skin looking youthful.
**3. Supports Digestive Health:** Drinking enough water aids in digestion, helps prevent constipation, and promotes a healthy gut environment.
**4. Enhances Cognitive Function:** Dehydration can lead to headaches, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating. Staying hydrated can keep your mind sharp and your mood stable.
**5. Aids in Weight Management:** Sometimes, thirst can be mistaken for hunger. Drinking water can help control appetite and calorie intake.
**How Much Water Should You Drink?**
- The general guideline is about 8 glasses (64 ounces) per day, but this can vary based on activity level, climate, and individual health needs. Listen to your body!
**Tips to Stay Hydrated:**
- **Carry a Water Bottle:** Make it easier to drink throughout the day.
- **Flavor Your Water:** Add fruits, cucumber, or mint if you need a flavor boost.
- **Set Reminders:** Use apps or phone alerts to remind you to drink water regularly.
- **Eat Water-Rich Foods:** Foods like watermelon, cucumbers, and oranges contribute to your hydration.
Remember, if you're feeling thirsty, you're already on your way to dehydration. Drink water before you feel thirsty!
Stay hydrated, stay healthy! 💪💦
