Kristy Wilson Midwife

Kristy Wilson Midwife Midwifery in Central PA offering women’s health, infant CST, prenatal/postpartum nutrition and more! No cost consultations.

I became a midwife because I learned a lot about myself through my own pregnancies and childbirths. Through my own birth experiences, I discovered within myself confidence, intuition and wisdom that have made me the woman, wife, mother and friend that I am today. It is my passion and calling to provide affordable and family-centered midwifery care. I truly enjoy assisting moms to find their inner strength and helping families to grow. https://www.intuitivemothermidwifery.com/about-kristy

So happy to have this little lady here before the storm rolls in. In fact, she arrived just as we did - and less than 45 minutes after mama’s water broke and they called for us. That is three births for January and all three are GIRLS!

We spent our Sunday with a repeat client. No day off for these midwives this weekend!
3rd baby curve ball all the way
“Never coming back club” because the last was “the last one” so that makes it even more special to see their family grow
18 hour labor
We were there for 11 hours before babe made her debut
Born head, body and cry all in same contraction and minute
First baby for this mama to come before her due date
Other babes barely required pushing, but this one was practically shoved out

Homebirth welcomes birth back into the home - and that means the body responds to everything present in that space.

Labor is not just physical work. It’s hormonal, neurological, and deeply sensitive to fear and safety cues. When fear enters the room, even from people who love us dearly, the body may respond by guarding the baby and birthing process. That’s wisdom, not weakness.

Thoughtful homebirth planning includes gentle, honest conversations about who belongs in that sacred space and how to protect it.

Birth flows best where there is trust, calm, and quiet confidence.

2025 Birth Realities 🤍 AKA “The Numbers”
After having a few days off, finally, I decided to sit down and work out the numbers.

Homebirth midwifery isn’t just candlelight and calm water.
It’s also preparation, discernment, and being fully present with families through every possible turn birth can take.

This work includes:
• recognizing early warning signs
• making timely, thoughtful transfer decisions
• navigating complex and prolonged labors
• supporting families through loss, surgery, and recovery
• and collaborating closely with hospital teams when needed

Every family represented here received full prenatal care and continued postpartum support with me. I knew their stories, their pregnancies, their concerns, and their hopes long before labor began — and I and my team remained present in the weeks that followed. That continuity of care matters deeply to me. It shapes better care, calmer decision-making, and stronger support when things don’t unfold as planned.

I’ve been attending births consistently since 2012 and have been practicing locally in this community since 2018. Being rooted here means more than a location — it means relationships, trust, familiarity with local systems, and showing up when families need it most.

2025 was a year that reminded me I have not seen it all — and that the work continues to call for humility, presence, and deep trust in both the birth process and my own skills and judgment. Experience doesn’t mean certainty; it means knowing how to stay grounded, attentive, and responsive as each story unfolds.

Homebirth is safest when families are supported by midwives who are seasoned, current, and deeply connected to the communities they serve.

Again, to the families who trusted me with their pregnancies, their births, and their postpartum journeys — thank you. I hold your stories with care, and it is truly an honor to walk alongside you. 🤍

As I look ahead to 2026, I do so with gratitude and renewed commitment — to continuity of care, ongoing learning, and serving families with skill, compassion, and integrity wherever their birth journeys may lead.

2025 was quite a year. It was a challenging year for many of our clients and I am grateful for the opportunity to walk the journey with you. Our birth team met 31 girls and 31 boys at their births. I am not breaking down transfer stats this year because I believe each baby had the birth they needed. Many families had difficult decisions to make this year as we saw an unprecedented amount of complications - placenta anomalies, torn placentas and partial abruptions, bleeding/spotting/low progesterone, pre-term labor threats, and the first uterine tear of my career. We had an attempted home breech that needed a transfer and had a cesarean birth. Part of being a skilled midwife is knowing when a transfer is best.
We had many wonderful and lovely homebirths as well - even some fast babes that beat the midwife - I think 3 this year were missed by minutes! Yet, other labors were days - and sometimes multiple trips to the family’s home. It is an honor to support each family and help you in those hours and weeks after birth as I provide postpartum & nursing support, provide newborn care, and craniosacral therapy.
In addition to midwifery care, I had the privilege of caring for 63 additional patients (women, infants, and children) for craniosacral therapy. Some of those were babies born into my practice in previous years and others were referred to me for various reasons. My craniosacral therapy services have been such a rewarding addition to my practice. Thank you to all of you who entrust your care to me - The Amish clinic is booked 4-6 weeks in advance. I am typically booked for births 7-8 months in advance. I am humbled and honored to serve so many families and be welcomed as friends, and treated like family, by so many you. May you all be blessed with joy and good health in the new year.

My year revolves around busy seasons punctuated by days/weeks off. I tend to be all-in or turned off. So I refill with days of turning off. After a very busy December with 3 births the week before Christmas, and then 3 more the next week, my break finally begins today. No more appointments. No place to be. Just open days while awaiting just one more early January baby, and counting down to my son and grandson arriving this weekend.

I am OFF until 1/6/2026 and planning a lot of personally fulfilling events with friends, family, and myself. A full week to do things I enjoy with people I love.

He’s here! I had the honor and privilege of catching a second grandchild. Naomi and I assisted Lauryn & Harrison as they welcomed sweet Remus on Monday, September 29th. He weighed just 9 lbs 10 oz and wanted Grandma & Auntie Midwife to help him out with his nuchal hands and a shoulder cord a bit in the way.

Midwifery can be an all-consuming calling, as it should be. The emphasis on women’s rights and feminism has robbed women of the gentleness, softness and need for support and sympathy that we inherently have and should show each other. For most of us who are called to midwifery we are first and foremost mothers simply wanting to help others to also become and experience the fullness of mothering. The feminist and woman-powered twist on midwifery is a delusion. Through our weakness we are used to bring life into this world. In our hardest moments of labor, women deserve a midwife to be there to remind her that she has the strength and courage to selflessly welcome her baby.

I have no greater honor in this life than to have developed a relationship with my children that they call me when they need me, trust me to be there in their times of needs and welcome me to be part of their adult lives and families.

We are thankful for this beautiful child.
Remus Michael Kirk Healy, we love you.

My Story

A laboring mama needs compassion and support. She needs encouragement and someone who can understand what she is experiencing. I truly enjoy assisting moms to find their inner strength, and helping families to grow with a holistic and natural approach to pregnancy and life. Having attended hundreds of births as a midwife and doula, and also naturally birthing my own eight children, I incorporate both my professional and personal experiences from the past 18 years. Helping women to achieve a natural birth is my passion. I have attended births in all settings: hospital, birth center, and at home. When a child is born at home, I have witnessed the positive difference it can make in the lives of all family members present. I work in accordance with the Midwifery Model of Care, which assures that you are fully educated, prepared, and confident in the decisions you make regarding the birth of your child. Consultations are always free. I offer affordable payment plans, and can accept some insurance after a verification of benefits. I am currently accepting clients in the Southern Central PA Region, including York, Adams, Cumberland, Perry, Dauphin, Lebanon, and Lancaster Counties. For more information, you can see my informed consent information on my website or call me directly. https://www.intuitivemothermidwifery.com
