“My mammogram literally saved my life.”💗

When Fadyia Lowe, a UK employee and mom of three, went in for her annual screening, she didn’t expect to be diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer.
Because of that mammogram, and the expert care of her team at the UK Markey Cancer Center, Fadyia’s cancer was detected early and treated successfully.
Now, she’s using her experience to encourage others to stay proactive about their health:

“Don’t skip your mammograms. Yes, they can be uncomfortable, but cancer is far more painful.”

🌟 Markey-developed lung cancer screening program goes national!

Researchers Jennifer Redmond Knight, Dr.P.H., and Timothy Mullett, M.D., from the UK Markey Cancer Center, are part of a new National Cancer Institute study that will expand Kentucky’s successful Quality Implementation of Lung Cancer Screening (QUILS™) system to 60 sites nationwide.

Developed as part of the Kentucky LEADS Collaborative, the QUILS program has already helped reduce late-stage lung cancer diagnoses by 10% in Kentucky, one of the states hardest hit by the disease.

This national expansion, led by former UK colleague Jamie Studts, Ph.D., will help bring that same impact to communities across the country.
Learn how this Markey-led innovation is saving lives:
