You are the EXPERT on your own experience
SWIPE ➡️
__________

A lot of our growth as adults comes down to learning and relearning.
Learning to trust ourselves, our gut responses and experience.
Relearning to value our own internal compass.

So much of our progress
Largely rooted in compliance and control
Has taught us to forget our own wisdom
To doubt our own abilities
And to neglect our own emotions
(which are key indicators of how we're moving through the world).

An easy way to come back home to yourself and
Remember your own wisdom
Is to track your growth, experience, progress over time.

__________

In therapy, we track progress over time.
But even without therapy, you can track your own progress.

Here's a quick way to begin tracking your progress (without or without therapy support)...

Start daily/weekly tracking
✅ Three things you're grateful for (daily)
✅ Three ways you've shown yourself value (weekly)
✅ One part of your world that's been tricky or difficult (weekly)
(quick tip: set an intention/focus to tackle this in the upcoming week)

__________

And here are a few practical steps / action items to take:

1. Get the Therapy Jumpstart Workbook to add clarity and guidance to your therapy work
(with or without a therapist) - https://lnkd.in/dxKzwXqu

2. Grab the Therapy Journal to add structure and intention to your therapy sessions
(no matter who you’re doing those with) - https://lnkd.in/eHi2FusP

3. Sign up for therapy (if you’re in KY) to book a session - https://lnkd.in/dqTAtvBd

4. Reach out for coaching (if you’re anywhere else) - colstonmmft@gmail.com

5. Enroll in Busting Burnout 24-Hour* Challenge (if you’re a therapist/helper/healer) to both recover from and safeguard yourself from burnout - link in bio

*With enrollment, you also have the chance to get the Personal Mission Statement Guide and the Digital License to use Therapy Jumpstart with your own clients (unlimited downloads/sends)

__________

Always remember: You're worthy of all the help you need right now.

Peace, Love & Light,
Shabbat Shalom,
-Alex

Y’all!

I created the Therapy Jumpstart workbook as a way for anyone to get started in the therapy process with or without actually going to therapy (that choice is always yours, by the way).

No… you can’t journal your way through problems that should be solved in the safety and richly developed space of a therapeutic relationship.

But you can work on yourself… on figuring out what is important to you, giving language to feelings and experiences.

You can absolutely develop a rhythm of coming back home
To yourself
To your values
To your worth.

Different than a workbook therapists use with their clients in session (which are often geared toward supporting the therapist in using the worksheets within),
Therapy Jumpstart offers guidance into activities that are self-led, self-paced, and full of self-discovery and empowerment.

You can certainly use this in your therapy sessions (whether you’re a client or a therapist), processing through them together… or use them on your own.

Whether just starting therapy, in the thick of it, had a good dose years ago, or are still on the fence… the pages you find inside will be a great foundation for wherever you are on your path (and PS: I do these with EVERY client I’m proud and honored and blessed to work with).

So go on, now… and snag one, okay?

And, please y’all, let me know how it’s going once you (jump)start! I’d love to hear from you.

Peace + Love, y’all!

Forget that New Year’s Resolution…

You don’t have to resolve to do anything.

If you have a goal in mind, set your mind’s eye on it and then make the decisions you need to make now in order to get there.

If you don’t know what decisions to make… then follow your values (high priorities that are deeply important to you). Your values light the way forward and will unlock the steps necessary to reach your goals, whatever they are.

And if you need help clarifying those values, let’s chat.

Peace & Light,

And I’ll see ya’ in sesh!

-Alex

(Book your values-clarifying session at the link in below… and I’ll see you soon!)

Therapy Holiday Reminder #2
“We’re halfway out of the dark.” - Dr. Who

The holidays are a mixed bag, it’s true.
I hope wherever you are, you find a little light within… keep it safe… and shine on when you’re ready. We’re all waiting patiently, observantly, expectantly to see what magic you bring to the table.

Love & Light,
-Alex

In a recent report from Headway, the majority of people in therapy reported that the relationship with their therapist (specifically the “right fit”) was the most important factor in their care. And, of course, this makes sense. Most often we are wounded in the context of relationship. That context (safe, nurturing relationship) is also the key that unlocks our healing.

My clients know this. I know this. That’s why we practice the art of relationship each and every time we meet. This relationship matters because you matter… your healing matters. And you’re absolutely worthy of all the support you need right now. Take good care of you, and I’ll see ya in sesh!

So much of our lives are exhausted by figuring out how to live in this world and be loved and accepted - to belong.

It's often in the second half of life
When relationships become difficult
When running noses and soiled hands and cries struggle for our attention
When jobs wear us out...
It's often in these seasons that we begin to realize we've forgotten who we are - Lost our sense of passion, and desire... our energy and life... our purpose.

The way back home to ourselves, to love
Is possible.

Hope and healing are always possible.

Knowing who you are, and believing in who that is
Truly hearing them and believing them
Beginning to love them...
This is the work of good therapy.

It's deep work.

You no longer have to hide who you are.

YOU. Are magic.

And this world needs you.
We all need you.

||

Let's get together soon, and remember what it was like to be free.
To walk in the knowing of our worth and value.
To live and love with security and freedom.

Take good care of you, my friend.
And I'll see you in sesh.
-Alex
