It’s a dangerous flaw in our healthcare system. When you can’t see your primary care doctor, the ER becomes the default, leading to higher costs and worse care for chronic conditions.
We have to do better. My belief is that easy access to a trusted primary care physician is the most important part of a healthy life. It’s a necessity, not a luxury.

Your first instinct when you feel pain might be to stop moving altogether. But for many injuries, that’s the opposite of what your body needs.
This doesn’t mean you should push through sharp, injurious pain. It means you should listen to your body and find a smarter, pain-free way to keep moving. This could be reducing the weight, changing the range of motion, or swapping an exercise for something else.

As a physician, I see a dangerous misconception every day, especially within the South Asian community. Many people believe a "normal" BMI means they are healthy, but that can be dangerously misleading.
For certain ethnicities, like Asian Indians, BMI is a poor indicator of health. It can hide the real risks associated with visceral fat—the "hidden" fat around your organs. This false reassurance can delay the prevention of serious conditions like heart disease and diabetes.

Just had a great follow-up with a patient who reminded me why I love sports medicine. Last week, she had a sudden, very swollen knee—we drained 80ml!—and it was a classic osteoarthritis flare. The catch? Her vacation was in three days. We got her an injection, and she just came back after her trip completely recovered. So cool to see such a quick turnaround.
