Recent research from New York University (NYU) shows that cannabis use among adults 65 and older has surged by nearly 46% in just two years.

While some older adults are turning to cannabis for relief from chronic pain and other conditions, the study highlights important health risks—including increased emergency room visits and a higher risk of dementia for heavy users.

If you or a loved one is considering cannabis for health reasons, it’s important to talk with your healthcare provider, especially if you have chronic conditions or take other medications.

Exciting news for healthy aging!

New research published in Nature shows that getting the Herpes Zoster (shingles) vaccine could do more than just prevent shingles—it may also lower your risk of developing dementia. In a study of over 280,000 older adults, those who received the shingles vaccine were 20% less likely to be diagnosed with dementia over the next seven years compared to those who weren’t vaccinated.

The effect was especially strong in women.

Talk to your healthcare provider about whether the shingles vaccine is right for you or your loved ones.
