Well got to my motel Friday 1/2 hr South of Birmingham and pouring rain 🫣! I didn't sleep much thinking I made the wrong event choice but no matter what I was doing it. The 30 mile Ruck (25lbs with my Osprey water pack on top of my Ruck) Trail run/hike. I got there and thinking to myself what hell am I doing I'm 51 but in my head kept rewinding what my brother said to me on the phone...give it all you got Dee, don't quit your a fricken Haase remember that! The trail was rocky, muddy, lots of up and down in the woods climbing back and forth up to about 2500, which doesn't seem like much but with all the extra weight it was HELL no joke! At one point running slipped in some mud, hit my head on tree got back up and kept going 🫣. Then at mile 13 had to use a portable bathroom because of the runner bathroom syndrome 🫣 pulled myself together quickly and kept going. The hardest was the last 5 miles every part of my body ached badly because of the Ruck and weight! I kept replaying what my brother said and made it to the finish line and straight to back of vehicle in parking lot and totally bawled my eyes out and layed there until my brother called me and totally broke down and to hear from him he was proud of me was the Best thing Ever! He said, you did it now so relax and I said, I can't move as I was crying but good tears I accomplished.
10th out of only 50 that did the 30 mile Ruck Trail Run. Otherwise, they had a 23 mile hike going on and a 23 mile Trail Run....sh*t ton of people. The people that beat me were from Redstone Army. The guy doing this was 53 from Redstone told me I did a fu***ng great job for 51 yr old woman. Yahooooo, GREAT accomplished for myself! Not sure I'd do it again 😂 but probably...maybe! Not 1st but I'll take it and maybe back in my 20's but those Army people WOW but if you could train every day like them...Wow, they are the S**t! They usually Ruck 45 no way in hell but practice makes perfect and how they train, they are made for it!
SO, doesn't matter WTH age you are, you can accomplish anything you train for set your mind to do! Most think, I'm to old but WHY do what you Love and listen to no one!
Hardest mother "F'ing" I've done EVER and it was Totally HELL and 100 time harder than just running a 23 mile Trail run because of all the weight but very good experience and accomplished! I'm good had to do nothing except lay in my hotel bed afterwards rehydrate all late afternoon and night couldn't move, slept and by this morning only thing is my shoulders from the Ruck is worst and rest little sore but not bad 🤪😊
It was TOTALLY HELL and worth every moment to accomplish!!!!!
