Our classes explore the benefits of laughter through movement, performance, and playful improvisation. Studio Playground teaches acting classes for all ages based in clowning and physical theatre. Our theater camp served over 80 students this summer. A substantial number of scholarships were awarded thanks to support from our sponsors, board of directors, and generous individuals who helped us achieve our 2025 scholarship fund goal.

Thank you to Jessie’s Dream Fund for providing scholarships for 5 students this summer! Thank you to RISCA for supporting our Craft & Create program directed by Filipa Estrela and thank you to everyone who participated in our online auction! who provided full scholarships for a student to attend camp and to Chris Bayes & Pandemonium Studio
for hosting his Laughing Club fundraiser which provided 2 full scholarships! And thank you to the local businesses who donated items for our auction & raffles.

Our performing Arts in Libraries Program was made possible by the City of Providence Department of Art, Culture & Tourism. Many thanks to Community Libraries of Providence for our partnership, and to Alex Hornstein and for designing and creating this beautiful wooden backdrop.

How exciting to see so many familiar faces for our 1st week of camp! And guess what? A couple spots just opened for the 2nd week! Our students learn that when they are brave and go onstage, they can make someone laugh which boosts their serotonin and makes them feel better. And that’s a gift that makes the world spin a little more compassionately.

Laughter Club with Christopher Bayes is today at 5:00pm! There is still time to register for this online event. Laughter Club is a wellness practice created by Chris Bayes, Head of Physical Acting for Founder of and author of Discovering the Clown, or the Funny Book of Good Acting. Chris is the artistic advisor for Stufio Playground. There is still time to sign up for this online event and have the chance to work with Chris Bayes, internationally renowned teacher of clown and commedia dell’arte. Tickets support the scholarship fund for Studio Playground. Laughing Club is a wellness practice created by Christopher Bayes, internationally renowned teacher and Head of Physical Acting for the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale. The workshop is for actors, performers, and anyone with a desire to explore the health benefits of laughter. Christopher Bayes is Professor in the Practice of Acting and Head of Physical Acting at David Geffen School of Drama, Director of the Pandemonium Studio, and Artistic Advisor for Studio Playground.

Our summer programs are SOLD OUT! It has been such a pleasure to watch our community grow over the past 5 years. We are thrilled to see many familiar faces and welcome new families over the next 2 months.
