VisionarYouth
Visionary Youth was formed as a 501(c)3 organization by Kwabena Mensah, owner of Oasis Barbershops in Lincoln, in 2019. Mr. Mensah, having experienced poverty and the traumatic effects of poverty throughout his childhood, is passionate about giving back to youth who are facing the same circumstances. Visionary Youth has been in operation since 2001 prior to filing 501(c)3 status and in those 9 years, has served over 3000 young people and their families with free haircuts, school supplies, personal hygiene and basic needs items, family events, gifts at Christmas, and informal mentorship.
Currently, Visionary Youth is looking to expand their programming to formalize mentorship activities with a group of barbers trained as mentors and passionate about serving as positive adult role models for disadvantaged youth through new partnerships formed in the community with Boys and Girls Club of Lincoln/Lancaster County, NorthStar High School, Family Service Lincoln, F Street Community Rec Center, Cedars Youth Services, and The Hub Central Access Point for Young Adults.
