Staff Spotlight Saturdays ✨ Meet Dr. Scott Reins ✨
This week we’re excited to spotlight Dr. Scott Reins, one of the founding optometrists of Capital Eye Care and a familiar face to so many of our patients! 👓
Dr. Reins grew up in Albion, Crawford, and Nebraska City, earned his undergraduate degree from Nebraska Wesleyan, and completed optometry school at Pennsylvania College of Optometry. With a love for both science and people, optometry was a natural fit. He’s been practicing for 31 years, all while helping shape Capital Eye Care from the very beginning.
His favorite part of working here is the vibe: a great staff, a welcoming atmosphere, and the ability to provide excellent care while making patients feel truly comfortable. He can’t live without his morning energy drinks, friends and family, and televised sports.
Outside the office, Dr. Reins enjoys golf, “old man” basketball, and traveling. He’s a fan of rock music, with Sympathy for the Devil by The Rolling Stones at the top of his list. His favorite genres are action and non-fiction, with books like No Easy Day, Undaunted Courage, and The Boys in the Boat standing out. Recent travels include Arizona and Las Vegas, with a trip to the Florida Keys coming up.
He recently said goodbye to his yellow lab, Rutter, after 13½ years, and still has a cat named Simone (though she mostly goes by “Cat”). His favorite color? Capital Eye Care burgundy of course! Looking ahead, Dr. Reins hopes for good health, continued growth of the practice, and some more time to relax. A fun fact: beneath it all, he admits he’s a big softie.
