Salt Creek has an amazing scenic view from our windows that face the East and South.

Wild turkeys also seem to enjoy the beautiful view, too. This group was having a nice stroll this morning. Residents liked watching them while they were served breakfast.

And we wonder...were the turkeys watching us, too, and having their breakfast?

Interesting conversations are something Salt Creek Residents love to enjoy daily. One thing we also like to feature to foster those special chats, is "unusual decor" photographs or pictures.

Today, a Meadowlark group updated one of our neighborhood activity areas with red, white and blue decor...with an emphasis on seasonal paper plates.

If we may, we'd like to draw your attention to the pencil sharpener.

A number of people today very much enjoyed how one Resident was quite "crafty" and put a festive headband over the pencil sharpener. It's almost like it gave the little appliance a "patriotic personality." We got such a chuckle out of the presentation, we thought we'd share the picture with you.

If you are inspired to dress up your pencil sharpener in a similar fashion, we fully encourage the effort.

Earlier this morning, Team Members from our Dial Senior Living Home Office dropped by to visit Salt Creek.

Salt Creek Team Members were spoiled with fancy coffee truck drinks, perfect pastries, cool shirts, and a few fun games. The effort is part of the annual "Summer Lovin' " visits they feature every year. Everyone loved it and we thank our wonderful Home Office colleagues for their support and kindness!

Later, a few people enjoyed a walk together in our Meadowlark Walking Path. We're not saying there was any guilt from the delicious cinnamon rolls...and we're not saying there was. But it WAS a great morning for a walk. We especially enjoyed the flowers as they start to bloom.

We did find an egg nestled in one of the bushes and we wondered what had hatched. Maybe a turtle?

We're not sure and welcome any speculation comments if someone recognizes the egg shape, etc. If we think you guessed it right, we just might treat you to one of those decadently-fabulous cinnamon rolls!

As the sun sets and Residents talk about yesterday's thunderstorms...card playing is underway. Some nights, 10-point Pitch is played. Other evenings, Swoop is the game of choice. Several people are learning to play Five Crowns, too.

But tonight, players have selected Kings in the Corner as the game of choice. Congratulations to Jan on this winning hand!

It's Core Values Week at Salt Creek!

This beautiful Sunday morning was busy at Salt Creek!

We were blessed to have Communion offered to our Residents. Afterwards, we streamed another denomination's Church service for people to watch and enjoy. Of course, some Residents opted to visit their places of worship in person and then return for a delicious lunch together at Salt Creek with their families.

Later this afternoon, the Husker Softball Team will play and many Residents are already wearing their Husker red clothing...getting ready to watch the match.

Finally, we were able to get a sneak peek at some plans for our Meadowlark Residents later today. Activity Station options to enjoy will include "Summer Joy," "Giant Book Reading," and "Disco Trivia."

Yesterday's Social Hour appetizers were so wonderful...we completely "savored the flavor" of all the wonderful options!S...

Yesterday's Social Hour appetizers were so wonderful...we completely "savored the flavor" of all the wonderful options!

Something else we have very much enjoyed tasting throughout the week? Hostess Cupcakes and Hostess Twinkies. Why? Well, Hostess Cupcake Day is celebrated annually on May 11th. This date commemorates the day after the very first ones were sold in 1919. The topic has been shared in a few of our Trivia events.

There's always something cooking at Salt Creek! Whether it's something delicious or something we can learn about!
