We're excited to welcome Jordan Henkel to our team at Ascend Counseling! Jordan is passionate about creating a safe, affirming, and collaborative space for healing for clients across the lifespan!

Jordan uses a personalized, human-centered approach that includes art/play therapy (for kids), ACT, solution-focused, and strength-based techniques—all grounded in a compassionate, existential-humanistic lens.

• Neurodiversity (ADHD, Autism)
• Self-esteem
• LGBTQ+ concerns
• Identity development
• Life transitions
Jordan also supports clients navigating depression, grief, stress, body image, relationships, and more.

Whether you’re new to therapy or returning, Jordan is here to walk with you—meeting you where you are with curiosity, flexibility, and care. Jordan is in the process of credentialing and currently accepts private pay but will be accepting insurance very soon!

Last year, without knowing, Ascend Counseling & Consultation was nominated in the Behavioral Health Category...and after several rounds of voting...we were SHOCKED to see we got "Honorable Mention!" The team deserved every bit of that honor and we couldn't be more grateful to serve our communities. Fun Fact! There are 8,760 hours in a year, and for 3,763 hours of 2024, the ASCEND Counseling & Consultation team was part of the healing journey of so many! We celebrate our team and their hard work and dedication, along with all of the individuals who trusted us in their hours of need.

Navigating the Holidays with Healthy Boundaries:

For those celebrating Thanksgiving, it is often a time for gratitude, family, and delicious food. However, it can also be a time of stress and anxiety, especially when dealing with various relationship dynamics.

Here are a few tips for setting healthy boundaries and coping with challenging interactions:

* Communicate your needs. Let others know what you need and what you're comfortable with.
* Set limits. Don't feel obligated to do everything or be around everyone.
* Take breaks. If you need to, excuse yourself and take some time for yourself.
* Practice self-care. Make sure to take care of your physical and emotional needs.
* Seek support. Talk to a trusted friend or family member, or seek professional help if needed.

Remember, you are not alone. Many people struggle with family and friend relationships during the holidays. Finding a place of Joy can be stressful in moments like these, but by setting healthy boundaries and practicing self-care, you can navigate the holidays with greater ease and peace of mind.
