Santa Claus is coming to town and he is bringing our crew a little bit of time away from the office over the next few weeks! In anticipation, please note our adjusted clinic hours and plan accordingly for medication refill requests and your weight management needs from Dr. Thomas and our staff. Check out this team...We have been CELEBRATING our staff this week with some behind the scenes fun- they really are the heartbeat of Nebraska Weight & Wellness!

Karen is celebrating her one year anniversary with NWW! She is the lady behind the wonderful LAUGH and the very busy front office operations. We are so thankful for her friendly smile and the fun she brings to our office each day.

Meg is also celebrating one year as a nurse with NWW! She brings many years of nursing experience to our team and loves to share her knowledge on health and nutrition with patients when asked. She has a true teaching spirit and we love her BIG heart and dedication to healthcare!

Mindy is our newest team member and we are celebrating her as it is National Medical Assistant Week! Mindy brings many years of serving patients throughout clinics in Lincoln and we LOVE the positive attitude and friendly spirit she brings to our patients each day.

September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month.

The latest data shows that:

👉20% of children and adolescents (ages 2-18) struggle with obesity
👉The biggest increase in BMI is between the ages of 5-12 years old, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic
👉Waiting for children to outgrow their obesity or to "grow into their frame" is a MYTH. Childhood obesity should be evaluated by a medical professional early as it is a complex condition

The Obesity Action Coalition has shared a video by Dr. Aaron Kelly which gives a great overview of childhood obesity and tips for parents on discussing childhood obesity and treatment options with their child's pediatrician.
