About MATC
The Mid-Atlantic Transport Conference (MATC) launched in the spring of 2019. Clinicians and educators at Johns Hopkins LifeLine and University of Maryland ExpressCare worked together to develop a local conference with a regional scope that provided continuing education for their transport teams and for neighboring teams as well.
Our goal was to bring the regional transport programs together and provide educational programs led by physicians, critical care nurses, critical care paramedics, and content experts in our allied health community. We also wanted to build bridges with our local critical care teams to share educational resources and develop content mutually beneficial for everyone.
As we begin 2020, the success of the initial MATC conference has led to some exciting changes. We have moved the dates for this year’s conference to the fall in an effort to make scheduling easier for more attendees. We have added a pre-conference day to provide in depth focused sessions as well as recertification classes. We have also partnered with IA Med to help us provide more streamlined processes with conference registration and CE approvals. We have joined IA Med’s CE Collective to provide monthly continuing education programs that will stretch MATC’s ability to provide CE opportunities throughout the year.
Our initial plan to put together an educational conference has quickly evolved into a collaborative program with year round content and input from a growing number of regional teams and the State EMS Office. Possibilities beyond educational content may be on the horizon as the continued bridge building amongst teams brings shared missions and challenges to the planning table. We are amazed and grateful at this opportunity to work with the best in our field and to share everything with our colleagues throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
