I am the owner of Silentium Massage Therapy in Lisle, IL which opened in March 2018. I offer advance techniques in massage therapy, developed through 22 years of experience and continuing education, including deep tissue, trigger point therapy, myfascial release and sports massage.
HOW and WHY I BECAME A MASSAGE THERAPIST
You could say that I did not choose massage therapy, it chose me. I started my career as an accountant. But, it is not my passion. Fortunately for me, my path diverted toward massage. My first introduction to the benefits of massage therapy was over 30 years ago when I sought counseling during a difficult time in my life. The counselor was an "outside the box" type and very gifted psychotherapist. She was also trained as a massage therapist. She encouraged me to consider dual sessions, 1 hour of massage and 1 hour of counseling, because she believed so strongly in the body-mind connection and how important it is to our mental and physical health, particularly when on a healing path. This is when I fell in love with massage therapy for myself. It was some years later that, out of personal interest, I enrolled in massage therapy training. I loved my first semester. By the second semester, when we were required to start practicing the techniques on friends and family, I was getting feedback like "this is so you", "you were meant for this" and "what do you charge". I completed my training at Wellness & Massage Training Institute in Willowbrook in 1997 and have been doing massage ever since. Massage therapy has helped me greatly and continues to help me stay grounded and feel my best. I love being able to share the benefits of massage with others.
