St. Francis Way Clinic was honored to be invited to the Gillespie High School Career Fair, where we had the opportunity to talk with students about pursuing careers in the mental health and addictions field. We hope our time there inspired at least a few students to consider this meaningful and much-needed line of work.

There is currently a significant shortage of mental health professionals, both in Illinois and nationwide, making it more important than ever to encourage the next generation to enter this field.

In addition to sharing career information, we brought along a variety of mental health tools to introduce students to healthy coping skills and to help reduce the stigma around asking for help.

Thank you to Gillespie High School for welcoming us and giving us the chance to connect with your students.

4/20 Is Coming Up: Let’s Talk with Our Kids!

Don’t let the day go up in smoke. Encourage your child to be their own person—not a stereotype.

You know your child better than anyone. And when it comes to conversations about drugs, your voice matters more than you may realize. This space is here for parents and caregivers—a trusted resource designed to help you:

-Start meaningful, age‑appropriate conversations
-Build trust and connection
-Support your child in making positive, drug‑free choices that last a lifetime

Research shows that teens who regularly hear about the risks of drugs from their parents are up to 50% less likely to use drugs than those who don’t. That’s the power of your influence—and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Sam Anthony, Mental Fitness Professional Speaker and Life Coach, for spending an impactful week with our communities. Sam visited four Macoupin County schools and four Montgomery County schools, as well as Macoupin and Montgomery County Celebrate Recovery group meetings, sharing his story and delivering a powerful message of resilience, honesty, and hope.

This week was truly heartfelt. Students were given a safe and supportive space to speak about things they may not have previously felt comfortable sharing, and many meaningful conversations took place as a result. The openness, reflection, and connection witnessed throughout the week will have a lasting impact on those who attended.

We are also deeply thankful to the schools and staff who welcomed this program into their buildings and supported their students by making these conversations possible. Your commitment to student well-being and mental health is greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Sam, thank you to our partner, The Next Network , and thank you to all who helped make this week such a meaningful and powerful experience for our students and communities.
