RENEA JONES-HUDSON, RETIRED ARMY VETERAN, INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLING AUTHOR, SPEAKER

EMPOWERMENT COACH FOR TRANSITIONING MILITARY AND VETERAN WOMEN. Do you sometimes feel like you're just going through the motions? I know the feeling well. As a soldier, leader, wife, and mother, I juggled many responsibilities, but inside,

I was searching for something more. When I left the military, that search became even more intense. I realized that many female veterans face unique challenges in transitioning to civilian life - challenges that are often overlooked or misunderstood by others. I was existing, not living. After retiring from the military, I was at a crossroads, filled with uncertainty. My life, once defined by structure, purpose, and results, suddenly felt directionless. "Women's military experience and post-service needs often differ from those of men, in their needs, and in the issues they face." "Women veterans are more likely to face certain transitioning to civilian life challenges, such as dismissive assumptions about their service, the effects of military sexual trauma, and the need to balance work and caregiving responsibilities." ~U.S. Department of Labor~

But our challenges do not define us. We are resilient, adaptable, and full of untapped potential. Know you're not alone if you need help with your next steps. I was there and made it my mission to help military women and veterans like you and me rediscover our identity, purpose, and strength. As you were in the process of separating from the service, you were probably excited, eager, and ready for a fresh start. Yet, somehow, you find yourself grappling with doubts and feeling as if you've somehow lost your way. Your once unshakable confidence now wavers, a sense of disconnection and insecurity creeping in. Clarity eludes you, and your identity feels blurred. But remember, this feeling of being adrift is not the end of your story. You're seeking purpose, yearning to fill the void left by a life once defined by structure and camaraderie. And yes...

It's tough doing it alone and navigating without a familiar support system. This is where your journey transforms. You're not just a face in the crowd; you're part of a community that gets it
and understands the unique challenges and strengths of being a military woman stepping into civilian life. This is where you rediscover confidence, reconnect with your inner strength, and find clarity in your purpose. Together, we'll redefine what it means to transition, turning this phase into an opportunity for growth and empowerment. You're not just surviving this transition; you're set to thrive in it. Welcome to where your new chapter begins – you're exactly where you need to be. You are in a place where your experiences as a military woman are understood, valued, and leveraged to help you grow. Now is the time to reshape your life's trajectory. It's more than mere change;
It's about awakening the Next Best Version of yourself. It's taking the journey towards becoming a more confident, connected, and profoundly empowered civilian. Step into the embodiment of your newfound strengths and aspirations. Your next chapter awaits, brimming with promise and potential.

Past Guest Spotlight: Anthony Edwards Jr. – Co-Founder of EatOkra

On my podcast, Anthony shared a truth that every veteran considering entrepreneurship needs to hear:

💡 “It’s difficult to build something you don’t use or aren’t passionate about. Choose a service or product that resonates strongly to navigate the inevitable hard times.”

Those words hit home.
Entrepreneurship isn’t easy; asking for money, building a platform, and putting yourself out there can be uncomfortable.

But when you love what you do, that passion gives you resilience to keep going.

Anthony’s story with EatOkra is proof.

He built a platform that celebrates culture, connects communities with Black-owned restaurants, and stands as a resource that empowers people nationwide.

👉 To my fellow veterans: If you’re considering starting a business, start with what resonates with YOU.

That’s how you build impact, legacy, and freedom.

09/08/2025

Where do you begin?

The truth is—there isn’t one right answer. But here’s what I know from experience:

💡 Build what you love. If you’re not passionate about your product or service, it’s tough to push through the hard times. Passion fuels perseverance.
💡 Expect it to be uncomfortable. Asking for money isn’t easy. Building a platform isn’t easy. But those challenges shape your resilience.
💡 Make it yours. Every journey is unique. Don’t get caught up in the noise or the shiny things. Build something that resonates with you, because that’s how you create impact and legacy.

At the end of the day, entrepreneurship is less about perfection and more about purpose. When you love what you do, it carries you through the obstacles.

👉 To my fellow veterans: if you’ve ever thought about starting a business, what idea has been tugging at your heart?

Maybe it’s time to lean into it.

Networking doesn't have to feel like a chore.

It's easy to get caught up in your own feelings and comfort zone when meeting new people.

Instead, see it as a search and rescue mission.

"If you truly believe that what you do can help somebody else, then your mission is to go find those people."

There’s a different kind of power that rises
when the orders stop… and the becoming begins.

The next mission?
It’s not assigned.
It’s claimed — with shaky hands and a steady heart.

To the woman who gave her all to a greater cause —
to the mission, the rank, the title, the family, the expectations...

Now is the moment you give that same devotion…
to yourself.

This isn’t about starting over.
This is about starting true.
No more proving. No more performing.

You’re not broken.
You’re becoming.

So I’ll ask you this:
💭 What would change if you stopped waiting for permission… and gave it to yourself?

👇🏽 Let her speak in the comments. Say it out loud — she’s listening.

You carried the weight.
You followed every order.
You put everyone else first.

But now?

You get to lead — on your own terms.
Transition isn’t a loss of identity; it’s the beginning of becoming.
It’s not about who you were told to be —
It’s about who you choose to become.

🪞So let me ask you —
Who are you choosing to become now… when no one else is calling the shots?

👇🏽 Drop one word in the comments that describes her.

After years of being told what to do, where to be, and what to wear…
the silence after service can feel like freefall.
But hear me:
This space isn’t empty — it’s open.
It’s not the end of your mission.
It’s your chance to choose one that’s fully yours.

And maybe that’s the scariest part — when no one’s giving orders, and the only voice left… is your own.

So what do you do with that kind of freedom?

You meet yourself in it.

✨ Start here:

What parts of me did I quiet down to belong or survive?
If no one else could weigh in, what would I want my life to look like now?
What does freedom actually mean to me — and how can I practice that today?
You don’t need a new uniform to feel worthy.
You need truth. You need space.
You need to start choosing you again.

The next mission?
It’s not out there.
It’s already calling you from within.

The smile you see is more than skin deep, it’s a reflection of freedom, clarity, and a soul that has fought its way back to joy.

I know what it feels like to be strong for everyone else while quietly piecing yourself back together behind the scenes.

But I also know the power of showing up anyway, choosing growth, and reclaiming your identity.

To every woman veteran or woman in transition, you are not broken. You are becoming. Keep rising.

Confidence is more than a look, it’s a lifestyle. Every step of your journey matters, even the ones that feel like detours.

Today I’m celebrating growth, grace, and the unapologetic joy of showing up fully heart first and purpose-driven. ✨

Let this be your reminder: the vibe you bring changes the space you’re in. Make it count.
