Messy mealtimes aren’t just chaosthey’re learning.

When children are allowed to touch, explore, and interact with food in a low-pressure way, we’re not just
“tolerating mess”... we’re supporting nervous system regulation and building real comfort with eating.

This is often the foundation of feeding therapy: safety first, then exploration, then growth.

If mealtimes feel stressful or stuck, we can help.

🚨🌸Blooming Babies is finally here, and I cannot believe I get to say that.

This group was created for babies and toddlers, 0 to 24 months, and the mamas who are watching closely, asking questions, and trusting their gut that early support matters.

Because it does.

The earliest months of a child’s life shape everything. How they feed. How they communicate. How they connect. And most families are told to just watch and wait during the most important developmental window there is.

We are not doing that here.

Blooming Babies is a space where your baby gets to grow, play, and be supported, and where you get answers, not just reassurance.

I built this because I wished something like it existed when my own kids were little. And now it does.
If you have been waiting for this, it is ready for you.

You watch your child reach for something—you see it in their eyes. They know exactly what they want to say.
But when the words come out, they get stuck. Scrambled. Not quite right. And you feel their frustration.

Here’s what more parents need to know:
That gap between what a child knows and what they can say isn’t always a delay. Sometimes, it’s a motor planning issue.

The brain sends the message—but the mouth can’t coordinate the movement to say it.

That’s childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), and it looks very different from a typical speech delay.

These kids are often bright, social, and eager to connect. The understanding is there—the pathway for speech just isn’t consistent yet.

CAS is treatable, but it needs the right kind of support. “Wait and see” can mean lost time during a critical window.

If your child has clear intent but unclear or inconsistent speech, trust that instinct.

Save this, share it, or DM us!

Here’s something that might change how you see picky eating 👇

It takes approximately 15 exposures to a new or unfamiliar food or texture before a child can form a real preference or opinion about it.

Those exposures allow them to:
✔️ Build a schema about the food
✔️ Compare it to other foods they like or dislike
✔️ Gather sensory info — is it squishy? Consistent? Does it cause discomfort?

And for neurodivergent children? They may need more than 15 to get there — and that’s completely okay.
So if your child hasn’t touched, smelled, or tasted a new food after the first try — or even the fifth — don’t give up. 💛

Feeding therapy is about guiding them through new sensory experiences with information, leading questions, and a calm, positive attitude around mealtimes.

We’re here to help. 🔗 Link in bio to book a consult.

If this sounds like your experience—I’ve been there too 🫶

Your baby was born knowing how to need you. They were not born knowing how to feed easily.

When latching is hard, when weight gain stalls, when sleep is restless and feeds are exhausting for everyone involved, those are not signs that something is broken. They are signs that something needs a closer look.

👅Tethered oral tissue does not always look dramatic. It does not always get flagged at the two-week visit. But it shows up in how your baby breathes, feeds, and settles.

👉Here is what I have seen too many times: a release happens fast. The tissue is addressed. And the family goes home without a plan, without preparation, without anyone having asked the right questions first. Is the baby’s nervous system regulated enough to respond well? Are the oral motor patterns in place to take advantage of the release? Does this family know what the next six weeks actually look like?

🫦A release is not the finish line. It is a door. And what happens before you walk through it determines almost everything about what happens after.

🔍A functional evaluation gets to the root of what is actually happening, not just what is visible. And it asks the questions that should always come first.

🩷We have something exciting coming for local families who need truly coordinated care from evaluation through release and beyond. Stay tuned. We think you are going to love it. 👀

If you have been told to wait and see and something still feels off, trust that. Book a functional evaluation. We will look closely.

👉You’ve noticed something. The open mouth. The snoring. The mornings where they wake up exhausted. The meltdowns that don’t quite make sense.

💭You’re not imagining it.

🗣️Airway issues in kids are under-recognized and under-addressed. But they’re observable. And they’re treatable.

👉And here’s what I know: the families who act in April and May are the ones who show up to fall conferences with something to celebrate. Better sleep. Better focus. A child who is finally regulated enough to learn.💚

🗓️August comes fast. The window to make a real difference before school starts is right now.

📍Evaluation slots are open in April and May. No referral required.

Communication Blooms is a boutique private pay speech therapy practice in Lodi, CA specializing in tethered oral tissues, myofunctional therapy, pediatric feeding therapy, childhood apraxia of speech, AAC, gestalt language processing, and sensory informed support.

04/11/2026

At Communication Blooms, we are all about busting speech therapy misconceptions. And the one I hear most often still stops me in my tracks.

“I didn’t talk until I was five and I turned out fine.”
Maybe. But here is what that logic skips over: the kids who struggled and got support do not make the headlines. The children whose feeding dysfunction led to airway problems, whose late talking was actually apraxia, whose mouth breathing quietly reshaped their palate for years while everyone waited, those kids do not become the anecdote. They become the mystery diagnosis at age nine.

Survivorship bias is powerful. And it keeps families from acting during the windows that matter most.

Speech therapy in 2026 is not a last resort. It is not the thing you try after exhausting everything else. It is not a sign that something is wrong with your child or your parenting. It is the thing you do when you want answers instead of uncertainty. When you want a root cause instead of a workaround. When you want your child to breathe well, communicate confidently, and move through the world without the friction that goes unaddressed for years.

We do not wait for failure here. We build the foundation before the cracks show.

If something has felt off and you have been talked out of trusting it, I want to talk to you.
