Take a peek into the wonderful age of 9 Months!!

9 months, there will be fewer specific exceptions to the food types you will give!

You might notice your baby is afraid of strange faces or cries out when you leave the room.

Your baby’s mobility may be complicating your life along with their teething and disrupted sleep.

PARENTING TIPS:
• Talk to your baby and repeat the sounds your baby makes.

• Play games such as peek-a-boo and wave bye bye. Sing songs. Read books out loud.

• Provide a consistent caretaker responsive to your baby's needs. Have an appropriate plan of care for sick children.

““Dr. Cohoon has been such a blessing to my family. Our son had to be admitted to the NICU by Dr. Cohoon and during the month he was admitted and the months to follow Dr. Cohoon was by us during every step. He made sure we had time to ask questions and he answered all of our questions and even listened to me as I vented about my frustrations with other doctors.

During the NICU stay he would call me to get updates on our son and to check in on our family and how we were handling everything. That meant a lot to us.

He has made doctor visits comfortable and even fun for all of our kids. They get excited to visit Dr. Cohoon for their checkups. He usually was training a medical student during our checkups and always did a great job teaching them and being patient with them.

He heard a heart murmur in our two-year-old that the student missed. Dr. Cohoon did a very professional job in explaining and teaching the student as well as keeping my daughter calm and still as they both listened and talked.

He also was the only one in 6 years who noticed that my 7-year-old had missed a Hepatitis B vaccine. I was impressed that he had looked at the details of her shot record for her annual check-up.

I am an OB nurse and very picky about our pediatricians but after our first visit with him, I knew Dr. Cohoon was the perfect fit and treated us like family and not another chart.”

Robert Cohoon, DO graduated from Brigham Young University before going on to earn a medical degree from A.T. Still University in Mesa Arizona. He completed his Pediatric residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Cohoon has been practicing Pediatrics in the US Army for the last 8 years and loves working with all of his patients, and families, and serving his country. It brings him so much joy to see his patients smile and laugh even when they might not feel their best!

“Dr. O’Very and is staff are amazing! We’ve been seeing him since our daughter was three months old after feeling like our pediatrician at the time wasn’t a good fit for us but Dr. O’Very has always made me feel seen and heard about my concerns for our daughter! As a first time mom there were a lot! He’s never made me feel silly for any of the concerns I’ve had! He takes his time, and explains things in a way we understand, he listens to concerns, and he genuinely cares!!! Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is one of the most common causes of childhood illness—especially for babies and young children. Symptoms are similar to a bad cold, but have the potential to become much worse.

So when should you seek medical care?
-temperature over 100.4 in a baby less than 90 days old
-difficulty breathing—fast shallow breaths or retractions
-appears drowsy or lethargic
-refusing to drink or signs of dehydration
-wheezing sound while breathing
-bluish color of the skin, especially around the lips and fingernails

How can you tell if your child might have an ear infection? If your child isn’t old enough to say “my ear hurts,” here are a few things to look for:

-Tugging or pulling at the ear(s)
-Fussiness and crying
-Trouble sleeping
-Fever (especially in infants and younger children)
-Fluid draining from the ear
-Clumsiness or problems with balance
-Trouble hearing or responding to quiet sounds
