Killian had another successful trip to California!
First he had a larger yet still micro dose of ghee, hit the exercise bike and all went well.
Next up was a LARGE dose of donkey milk ➡️ exercise bike ➡️ all went well! Lastly, Killian was introduced to a micro dose of uncooked camel milk followed by a waiting period for any adverse reactions. Our boy rocked it once again!!!

Next visit he'll be introduced to sheep's milk yogurt!
For now, at home, higher micro doses of ghee continue, micro dosing camel milk, and maintaining a large dose of donkey milk each day.

Whew!! Killian is feeling great and trusting the process although he thinks he could crush a pizza right now!
In due time 🙌🏻

Thank you for all your support! ❤️

Misconception:
💋 “Kissing can’t cause an allergic reaction.”

Truth:
Allergens can linger in saliva—even hours after eating.

That means kissing can cause a reaction if your partner has eaten your allergen. Waiting, eating a safe meal, and brushing help reduce risk, but avoiding allergens before kissing is safest. A quick check-in and open communication with your partner can make kisses safer—and sweeter.

Thank you for your participation in the football squares, and congrats to all the winners!!
We're getting ready for Killian's next appointment in Long Beach, anxious to see what will be next! Killian has successfully been maintaining the increments in his micro dose of ghee. It still blows my mind that he is ingesting it at all!!!
Bourbon drinkers - stay tuned for our next fund raiser! 😃
HAPPY LOVE DAY!!!

Wishing you all a blessed New Year! December of 2024 I made the decision that I was going to get Killian into the Food Allergy Institute TIP program no matter what!
A few months later we were on a plane to Southern California for his first appointment.
Here we are a year later already and he's making incredible progress in the program!
We are grateful to have all of you supporting Killian on this journey. It's a long road ahead and we hope you stick with us. There will be a BIG celebration at the end!! 🥳🙏🏻🍨

Killian had another appointment, this time he went to San Diego.
After 10 weeks of micro dosing donkey and horse milks, as well a "maintenance" dose of camel milk, he had to go and challenge horse and donkey milks. For the challenge Killian has to take one large dose (more than twice his highest micro dose) of each milk, go exercise for 5 minutes and rest/wait for any reactions. Horse milk was first, then donkey . If you recall from his last appointment, Killian had a mild reaction after the introduction of horse milk but was fine at every dose after. Both challenges were passed with no issues.
Last thing to do was introduce ghee. This was the BIG one (to date!) as ghee IS butter that's boiled to the point of water and milkfat evaporating, leaving it LACTOSE free, but NOT DAIRY FREE. This is a food item we strictly avoid. (Lactose intolerant vs dairy allergy. Lactose is the sugar that typically causes an upset stomach, casein and whey are proteins that cause allergic reactions such as, in Killian's case, anaphylaxis.)

Ghee introduction went beautifully! Killian ingested .6 ml mixed with applesauce after the other challenges/exercises, and Killian had no reactions to any of his systems at all. His blood pressure was quite elevated BEFORE it began, rightfully so!

Now Killian will be taking "maintenance" doses of horse and donkey milks and micro doses of ghee. All of these daily doses are helping to "reprogram" his immune system and build tolerance to these different yet very similar dairy proteins.

Thank you for following and supporting Killian through this journey!
It's a very long road but these are huge barriers he's breaking through every time!! So exciting! (And confusing.)

Happy Holidays!

In 2017, Thomas Silvera and Ondina Hawthorne, parents of Elijah-Alavi Silvera, experienced an unimaginable loss. Their son, three-year-old Elijah-Alavi, was given dairy at daycare despite his documented allergies and was not given epinephrine or emergency care. What happened to Elijah was preventable, and the grief his family carried could have ended there. Instead, they chose to turn their pain into purpose. Through the Elijah-Alavi Foundation, the Silveras have fought tirelessly to build the protections Elijah never received.
Today, their commitment helped bring real change to New York City. The NYC Council unanimously passed Int. 895, a new ordinance that requires every school and childcare program to stock epinephrine and ensure staff are trained to recognize anaphylaxis and respond quickly. This law closes a critical safety gap and strengthens protections for children across the city.
FARE is grateful to Thomas Silvera, Ondina Hawthorne, and the Elijah-Alavi Foundation for leading this life-saving work, and to Council Member Julie Menin for championing the ordinance. This is how we build a safer, more prepared future for children with food allergies.

Advocacy win for children with food allergies!

The U.S. Senate has passed the Protecting Children with Food Allergies Act, a bipartisan bill that will require school food service staff to be trained to prevent and respond to allergic reactions.

AAFA is proud to have worked with Sens. Durbin and Fischer and our partners across the allergy and pediatrics community to move this bill forward.

And THANK YOU to our amazing advocates whose actions helped push this across the finish line in the Senate. Stay tuned — next stop is the House!
