WINTER HYDRATION — WHY WARM MATTERS
In colder months, our bodies naturally draw inward to preserve warmth and energy. Cold drinks may feel refreshing, but they slow hydration and weaken digestion. In Chinese Medicine, they can drain Spleen Yang and worsen Dampness.

This season, choose warmth.
Winter Hydration Tonic
Ginger–Red Date–Goji Infusion
• 16 oz warm water (not cold)
• 2–3 fresh ginger slices
• 2 dried red dates (jujube)
• 5–7 goji berries
Simmer 5–7 minutes, strain, sip slowly.

Best times to drink:
• Upon waking, before coffee
• Mid-afternoon (2–4 pm)
• Before or after acupuncture

Benefits:
• Gently hydrates
• Warms digestion
• Supports Kidney Qi

Thanksgiving invites us to gather, reflect, and often eat more than our digestive system can comfortably handle.
In Chinese Medicine, overeating places stress on the Spleen and Stomach, which can lead to:
* Bloating and gas
* Fatigue or brain fog after meals
* Reflux or a heavy sensation
* Increased sugar or carbohydrate cravings
Here are practical ways to support a healthier digestive response before and after the meal.

Ginger Tea
* Warms the stomach
* Promotes movement of Qi to reduce fullness and bloating
* Helps with nausea
Drink warm before or after meals.
Cloves (Ding Xiang 丁香)
* Helps activate digestion
* Reduces gas and abdominal discomfort
Can be simmered with ginger or added to warm beverages.
Additional Tip
You may also gently suck on a thin slice of fresh ginger or a single piece of clove after eating to support digestion and freshen breath.

Acupuncture Perspective
Mindful, slow eating supports the natural descending movement of Stomach Qi. Eating quickly, multitasking, or consuming cold foods can reverse this flow and contribute to indigestion.

Suggestions
* Begin with warm, cooked dishes
* Allow time between servings
* Finish with ginger–clove tea or take a gentle walk afterward

Wishing you a Thanksgiving that nourishes not just the body, but also the spirit.
I am grateful for each of you in my life.

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain, especially after a long day on your feet. This condition occurs when the thick band of tissue (the plantar fascia) at the bottom of your foot becomes inflamed, causing sharp, stabbing pain in the heel. While rest and stretching can help, acupuncture, Chinese Medicine, and cupping therapy offer effective, long-lasting relief.
* Pain Relief: Acupuncture targets specific points to release tension and alleviate pain by stimulating your body’s natural healing processes.
* Reducing Inflammation: Acupuncture helps regulate the flow of Qi (energy) and blood, reducing inflammation and improving circulation to the affected areas.
* Balancing Energy: In Traditional Chinese Medicine, plantar fasciitis is often linked to stagnation of Qi or Blood. Acupuncture helps restore the flow of energy, speeding up healing.
Cupping Therapy for the Feet:
* Enhanced Circulation: Cupping creates suction on the skin, drawing blood to the area and increasing circulation, which helps relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.
* Restoring Balance: In TCM, cupping works in harmony with acupuncture to restore the natural balance of energy and blood flow in the body, addressing both the symptoms and underlying causes of the pain.
Additional Benefits:
* Increased Mobility: Acupuncture, cupping, and herbs work together to reduce pain and improve flexibility, allowing you to move more freely without discomfort.
* Holistic Healing: Acupuncture and cupping address not just the symptoms of plantar fasciitis, but also any underlying imbalances contributing to the pain, promoting whole-body wellness.
If you’re struggling with plantar fasciitis pain, acupuncture, cupping, and Chinese Medicine offer effective, non-invasive treatments. Contact Points of Wellness today to see how we can help restore balance and comfort to your feet.

As we reach the peak of summer, the Heart is the organ most closely associated with this season in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Heart governs not just physical health but also our emotional well-being, influencing joy, vitality, and our ability to connect deeply with others.
Summer is a time to nurture your Heart Qi, and Chinese Medicine offers powerful ways to support this energy, both physically and emotionally:
* Hydration: Drink plenty of water, ideally infused with cooling herbs like mint or chrysanthemum, to keep your body and Heart Qi balanced.
* Cooling Foods: Summer fruits like watermelon and cucumbers naturally support the Heart QI by promoting fluid balance and cooling internal heat.
* Meditation and Breathwork: Gentle breathing exercises or meditation can help calm the Heart Qi, reducing stress and promoting joy.
* Acupuncture & Cupping: Focused treatments can help release heat, improve circulation, and restore the balance of your Heart Qi.
Now is the time to focus on deepening your connection with yourself and others, finding joy in small moments, and embracing the vibrant energy of summer.
Book your session at Points of Wellness today to nurture your Heart Qi and step into your best summer self.
