Spring is beautiful… but for many, it comes with sneezing, sinus pressure, itchy eyes, and fatigue.

At Points of Wellness, we carry Quercetin UltraSorb by Pure Encapsulations , a high-quality, highly absorbable form of quercetin to support your body during allergy season.

Why quercetin in the spring?
• Helps stabilize mast cells, less histamine release
• Supports sinus and respiratory health
• Reduces inflammation triggered by pollen and wind
• Gentle support for immune balance (not just stimulation)

In Chinese medicine terms, spring brings Wind and for some, that means internal reactivity. This is one way we help the body stay steady instead of reactive.

If your body tends to flare every year around this time, this may be a simple addition to support your system.

As always, we guide you based on your pattern.

In Chinese medicine, Earth is the center.
It grounds us, nourishes us, and holds everything together.

Just like the soil supports growth,
your body thrives when it feels supported, steady, and cared for.

When Earth is balanced, we feel:
• centered
• nourished
• present
• at ease in our body

When it’s out of balance, it can show up as:
overthinking, fatigue, digestive issues, or feeling “unrooted”

Today is a simple reminder:
Take care of the Earth outside…
and the Earth within you.

Eat warm, nourishing foods.
Step outside and feel the ground beneath you.
Slow down enough to actually receive.

Healing doesn’t always come from doing more
sometimes it comes from returning to center.

In Chinese medicine, this is Dampness + Wind rising in the environment.
And your body feels it.
Heaviness
Brain fog
Increases pain
Joint aches
Digestive sluggishness
Low motivation
Emotional weight
This kind of weather doesn’t just pass through the sky,
it settles into the body if we’re not careful.
How to stay balanced right now:
– Keep your neck and upper back covered (Wind enters here first)
– Go lighter on cold/raw foods (protect your Spleen energy)
– Sip something warm like ginger tea, cinnamon, or even just hot water. A nice bowl of pho.
– Move your body gently (don’t let Dampness stagnate)
– Dry your hair before bed (this matters more than people think)

This is not the time to push harder.
It’s the time to protect your center and stay grounded.
Your body is always responding to the environment.
The more you understand that… the more control you have.

A little sparkle at the clinic
Many of you have noticed these fun pens at the front desk lately.
They are handmade by my niece Laila, who has autism and an incredible creative spirit. She carefully designs and assembles each one herself — choosing the beads, colors, and themes that make people smile.
Her dream is to open a small Etsy shop called Awesome Spark.
Her motto is:
Good → Great → Awesome
Because she believes every small creation can brighten someone’s day.
So if you need a cheerful pen, grab one on your way out.
They’re 3 for $5, and every purchase helps support her little business dream.
Sometimes healing isn’t just acupuncture — sometimes it’s supporting the spark in someone else.

International Women’s Day – Honoring the Strength of Women

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and wisdom of women everywhere.
As a practitioner of Chinese medicine, I have the privilege of witnessing the incredible capacity of women’s bodies to heal, adapt, and endure. Every day in my clinic I see women navigating life’s demands while still showing up for their families, careers, and communities.
I’m also deeply grateful to come from a family of strong women who have shaped who I am—women who taught me resilience, compassion, and the importance of caring for others.
But today is also a reminder that women deserve care too.
Your body deserves rest.
Your mind deserves peace.
Your health deserves attention.
Healing is not selfish—it is essential.
To all the women walking their own path toward balance and wellness, I see you and honor you.
May you breathe deeply, move gently, and remember that your well-being matters.

March is starting of Wood season

If you’re feeling tense, irritable, waking at 2am, or tight through the shoulders… your body may be asking for movement, not more pressure.

Spring is about flow.

Let’s reset that body

Happy Lunar New Year.

We welcome the Year of the Fire Horse, a year of movement, courage, and bold energy.

In Chinese Medicine, Fire is connected to the Heart, the seat of joy, clarity, and connection. When Heart Qi is strong, we feel grounded yet inspired. When it’s depleted, we feel restless, anxious, or burned out.

The Fire Horse energy can be powerful. It wants to move fast, create, and push forward. But true vitality isn’t about speed, it’s about rhythm.

This year at Points of Wellness, my intention is simple:
• Regulate the nervous system
• Strengthen your Qi
• Support deep, sustainable healing
• Help you feel calm and clear in your body

You don’t need to run harder this year.
You need alignment.

May this year bring you:
Strong Heart Qi.
Clear direction.
Resilient health.
Prosperity in all forms.

Gōng Xǐ Fā Cái.
With gratitude,

Meet the Queen of Fruits: Mangosteen

Don’t let the tough purple shell fool you. Inside is soft, snow-white, petal-like sweetness that melts in your mouth.

Sweet.
Slightly tangy.
Juicy.
Refreshing.

Mangosteen is native to Southeast Asia and is often called the “Queen of Fruits.” And here’s the truth — it is rare to find fresh mangosteen in the Midwest, especially in the Chicago area. When you do see it, it’s usually at a specialty Asian market and often imported.

So finding one on February 15? That’s a little surprise.

Is it in season?
In its native regions, mangosteen is typically in season from late spring through summer (roughly May–September). So in February, it’s not peak season — which makes fresh ones here even more uncommon and usually more expensive.

Why people love it:
• Naturally rich in antioxidants (especially xanthones)
• Hydrating and refreshing
• Light on the digestive system

In Traditional Chinese Medicine terms, mangosteen leans cooling — which can be helpful for signs of internal heat or irritability. Not necessarily a February Chicago fruit, energetically speaking… but sometimes the body craves a little contrast to winter heaviness.

And can we talk about how beautiful it is?
Those white segments look like delicate petals — almost like nature’s lotus.

Sometimes wellness isn’t complicated.
Sometimes it’s just appreciating something rare when it crosses your path.

Have you ever found fresh mangosteen in Chicagoland? ❤️

February is the month of the Heart.

Valentine’s Day speaks of love,
but the deeper invitation is inward.

In Chinese Medicine, the Heart houses the Shen,
the quiet light behind your eyes,
the calm in your breath,
the steadiness in your pulse.

When the Heart is balanced,
sleep comes easily.
Thoughts soften.
Joy feels simple and unforced.

When the Heart is unsettled,
the mind races.
Rest becomes shallow.
Connection feels distant.

This month, move gently.

Breathe a little slower.
Eat warm, nourishing foods.
Sit in stillness, even for a few minutes.
Let your nervous system remember safety.

Love is not something you chase.
It is something you cultivate.

A steady heart.
A quiet mind.
A clear spirit.

May your February be calm, warm, and rooted in peace.
