I almost didn’t post this… but I think someone might need to see it 💛

The first picture was taken in 2024 at my mom’s 80th birthday party. At the time, my acid reflux was out of control, menopause had me all over the place, and honestly… I just didn’t feel great. The wild part? I didn’t even fully realize how not great I felt. I thought it was just “normal.”

Fast forward to now ... the second picture was from last weekend at a really fun party and I feel like a different person.

In May 2024, I decided to make some changes. Nothing extreme, just consistent:
– Started intermittent fasting
– Added more fiber into my diet
– Found a simple routine that worked for me
And little by little, everything shifted.
I’ve lost 22 pounds and, more importantly, I’ve kept it off. But beyond the number… I feel good in my body again. And that’s something I don’t take for granted.
Of course, I could always lose a little more (who can’t? 😄) but right now? I’m choosing to feel happy where I am ... and that feels really good.

When insulin is high, your body can’t burn fat. Not slower... just not at all.

Insulin tells your body to store fat and blocks it from being used. It basically “locks” your fat in place.

So if you eat carbs before a workout, your body uses that quick energy instead. It might even use muscle... but it won’t use fat. That’s why calories don’t tell the full story here.

This is why people can work out for years and still not see changes. It’s not about effort; it’s about your hormones.

Hi, I’m Ilyse, a holistic health and wellness coach with over a decade of experience helping people feel better: body, mind, and spirit, through natural solutions.
But my journey into health didn’t begin in a classroom. It began in my own body.

Calories in, calories out… who else has been living by that rule for years? 🙋‍♀️

I’m not saying calories don’t matter at all but they’re not the whole story like we’ve been led to believe.

For the past almost two years, I’ve completely changed the way I eat and the way I think about food. That shift... not obsessively counting every calorie...is what’s led to real, sustainable change for me.
