Shoe size is more than just a number.

Using a Brannock device at a shoe store can give an accurate measurement, and at home, you can trace your foot and add about half an inch for toe room. A good fit should feel comfortable right away, with space at the toes, a secure midfoot, and no heel slipping.

If shoes don’t feel right quickly, they probably aren’t the right fit.

That’s why simple habits matter — checking your feet when you get home, removing shoes and socks, wearing white socks, avoiding walking barefoot, and using proper diabetic footwear or custom inserts to protect high-risk areas.
