Trauma is about loss of connectionโ€” to our bodies, to ourselves, to our families, to others, and to the world around us.

Our choices become limited. As we avoid certain feelings, people, situations, and places, we experience a gradual constriction of freedom. The result is a loss of vitality and diminishment of our potential for the fulfillment of our dreams.

Trauma is trauma, no matter what caused it. People can be traumatized by any event they perceive (consciously or unconsciously) to be life threatening.
