Our Mensch Brian 💞💖🙏🏽 One of Us
At 7 year old, Brian despaired and wondered what would become of him. He was a "shrimp" that didn't fit in. He grew up Jewish, in a challenging middle class family dynamic in New Jersey. We're proud to say we always loved him from beginning to end. In every way he slayed it.
Being "wicked smahht" he got into Harvard University. Not wait-listed like my sister... (She didn't want to go there anyways!) While there, he jumped into Lampoon Society, a high end hatchery for comedy writers. Although comedy is a challenging career, he became an award winning writer for Late Night with David Letterman, a core writer for 5 years with Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
“I am so saddened by the news that we’ve lost the hilarious Brian Reich,” O’Brien wrote on Twitter. “He was such an inventively funny and daring comedy writer and he gave our Late Night show so much brilliant silliness. My condolences to everyone who knew and loved Brian.”

We loved Brian. He's our Mensch, our family. He fell deeply in love with my beautiful, brilliant sister. He was one of the defining loves of her life and they remained best friends for decades. We loved his kindness, sensitivity and perhaps were most delighted by the way he could make us laugh out loud and sometimes to tears (especially in otherwise serious or stressful situations).
He found out he had lung cancer that had spread to his brain a few years back. He began to meditate and we saw his personality mature and his compassion expand. When my sister and him spoke of his inevitable passing, he said he was most concerned that he wouldn't be able to help and comfort his loved ones such as my sister anymore... At which they laughed, cried and held one another.
Though we miss him painfully here and now; I am comforted in my belief that we simply slip the skin into the astral realm of angels. That Brian is with us in this world, but not of this world anymore. We love him so, praise him so and raise him up to celebrate him on his birthday April 5th 🎉🎂🎈🎁
Slapping the table, we exult him, "We accept you! One of us, one of us!" 🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
