The entire zodiac is sometimes referred to as "The Way," which originates from the Greek word zodiakos meaning "circle of animals" or "the animal way". The term refers to the path the Sun, Moon, and planets appear to travel through the sky, against the backdrop of the constellations.
The phrase can also refer to:
The celestial route: In antiquity, astronomers and astrologers saw the sun, moon, and visible planets traveling along a specific path through a belt of constellations, which they described as a "way" or "road".
The ecliptic: The specific linear path that the Sun appears to take across the sky is called the ecliptic. The constellations of the zodiac are located within a few degrees of this line.
A book title: A book published by Johanna MacPherson is titled The Way Of The Zodiac: A Guide to Health and Well-Bieng using Astrology.
In Scripture: In the Bible, Jesus referred to himself as "the way" in the Gospel of John. He made this specific claim during his final discourse with his disciples.
The biblical reference
In John 14:6, Jesus tells his disciple Thomas: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me".
The historical context
The term "the Way" was also used to describe the early Christian movement and its followers before they were commonly called "Christians". This is evident in the book of Acts:
What did Jesus mean when He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6)? Is Jesus the only way of salvation?
