Peptides and injectable medicines are trending, but not all peptides are the same 💉

💡Peptides are short chains of amino acids; small proteins that act as signaling molecules in the body.

Recently, the FDA began reclassifying certain compounded peptides ⏭️ some products being marketed in wellness and longevity spaces may now be regulated as drugs.

Why does that matter?

👉🏼 Because drugs must meet strict standards for safety, manufacturing quality, and clinical evidence.

Some peptide-based medicines, like insulin or GLP-1 therapies, are well studied and FDA approved.

Others being promoted for anti-aging, fat loss, or performance may not have the same level of evidence or oversight.

As exciting as new therapies can be, medicine still comes down to the same questions:

• Has this been studied in clinical trials?
• Is it regulated and standardized?
• Do the benefits outweigh the risks? 🤔

Not every trending therapy meets those standards.

Common approaches include:
• 16:8 (fast 16 hours, eat within 8)
• 14:10
• Alternate-day fasting

Intermittent fasting has become one of the most popular nutrition strategies in recent years.

The idea is simple 👉 instead of focusing on what you eat, intermittent fasting focuses on when you eat.

Some research suggests fasting patterns may help support metabolic health, improve insulin sensitivity, and assist with weight management.

But many of these benefits are also seen with overall calorie balance and improved diet quality.

For some people, intermittent fasting can be a helpful structure.

For others, it may lead to fatigue, irritability, or difficulty maintaining consistent nutrition.

🚨It’s not appropriate for everyone, particularly children, pregnant individuals, or those with certain medical conditions.

Like most things in health, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.

Sustainable habits... balanced nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress management, remain the foundation of long-term health 🥦

Does dancing while pregnant create a future dancer? 💃🤰

Your baby can feel movement and hear muffled sounds in the womb — but talent comes from genetics, environment, and practice… not prenatal choreography.

What dancing does do is something better:

🫀 Improves blood flow
🧠 Lowers stress hormones
🤱 Supports healthy fetal development

So no, you’re not building a backup dancer in there…

But you are doing something good for your baby — and that’s what really matters. ✨

Colorectal cancer is rising in younger adults—and we’re still searching for answers.

A major 2025 study followed 150,000+ people for decades and found something simple:
just 2 servings of yogurt a week was linked to ~20% lower risk of certain colorectal cancers.

This is your gut in action: What you feed your microbiome shapes your long-term health.

Small habits. Big impact.

Doing puzzles prevents dementia...

Fact or fiction? 🤔

The answer is not so simple.

Puzzles like crosswords, Sudoku, and brain games are great for cognitive engagement, they challenge memory, attention, and problem-solving. 🧠

But research suggests puzzles alone don’t prevent dementia.

What they may help build is cognitive reserve, which is the brain’s ability to adapt and compensate for changes over time.

In other words, mentally stimulating activities can support brain resilience.

So if you enjoy puzzles, keep doing them.
Just remember: brain health is built through whole-life habits, not a single activity.

We’re now using apps… to stop using apps 📵
Let that sink in.

Tools like Opal and Brick are designed to help us focus, reduce screen time, and take back control of our attention, because many of the apps we use daily are designed to do the opposite.

Constant notifications, infinite scroll, and algorithm-driven content are engineered to keep us engaged... often longer than we intend.

Tools that create friction, help change behavior and give us pause to reflect on how to be intentional with our time and attention.

The goal isn’t to be dependent but rather use these tools to modify behavior and take back control.

So, we can model better habits for kids who are watching how we use our devices 🧑‍🧑‍🧒

👉🏼 Colon cancer is now the leading cause of cancer death in adults under 50. Enough.

I’ve lost friends in their 20s.
This isn’t rare anymore.
It’s real. It’s rising. And it’s being missed.

Sometimes it’s not dramatic—just a subtle change:
bleeding, fatigue, abdominal pain… a shift in your normal.

If something feels off, speak up. Get checked.
Early action saves lives.

Join the movement. Be the energy that powers a cure. 💙

What is mental load? 🧠

It’s not just the tasks, it’s remembering, planning, anticipating, organizing… all while juggling work, family, and everything in between.

Even in the healthiest partnerships, many women still quietly carry the invisible responsibility of keeping life moving.

And over time, that constant “always on” state becomes chronic stress which impacts 👉🏼
🫀heart health, 😴 sleep, 🙂 mood and 👉🏼overall well-being.

I see this in my patients.
I’ve witnessed it personally.

This Women’s Month, I’m learning that sharing the load begins with understanding all of its parts, and empowering my partner to prioritize preventive care without guilt.

Tools like the cards by can help make the invisible - visible, creating clearer ownership and more balanced partnerships at home.

It’s easy to miss the signs of low iron in a child because in our hectic lives it can feel, “normal”.

Irritability, exhaustion after school so the child always says he or she is tired.

It’s easy to assume they may not be sleeping well or the school days are rough.

But, especially when paired with -
constantly asking for ice, drinking very cold water, or chewing on things more than usual this can be a sign of low iron.

Speak to your child’s pediatrician and get labs checked.

In children, low iron can present as:
😴 Fatigue
😒 Irritability
💭 Difficulty concentrating
⚪️ Pale skin
🧊 Craving ice

Not every tired child has low iron.

But when behavior changes and, it’s worth asking the question.

Did you know 👉 Women were not federally required to be included in clinical trials until 1993.

For decades, most medical research was conducted primarily on men.

While policies in the 1970s aimed to protect women from research risks after medication-related birth defects, the unintended consequence was widespread exclusion from clinical studies.

This meant drug dosing, cardiovascular research, and many treatment protocols were largely based on male physiology.

Advocates, scientists, and lawmakers pushed for change, leading to the NIH Revitalization Act of 1993, which required women and minorities to be included in federally funded clinical research.

That was a vital shift because women can experience different heart attack symptoms, metabolize medications differently, and are disproportionately affected by certain conditions like autoimmune diseases.

Better representation in research leads to better care for everyone.

Bad breath? 😬
Before buying expensive mouthwashes, try this simple rinse:

👉🏼 1 cup warm water
👉🏼 1 tsp baking soda
👉🏼 1 tsp salt
👉🏼 Juice of ½ lemon 🍋

Swish for 30 seconds and spit.

Baking soda helps neutralize odor-causing acids, salt can reduce bacteria, and lemon adds a fresh antimicrobial boost.

But remember — persistent bad breath can signal gum disease, dry mouth, reflux, or sinus issues. So, always consult your dentist and make your doctor aware.
