This was a big week for training! In 3 weeks ~20 of my teammates will roll into Hatch, UT for the Bryce Ultra Marathon. I’ll tackle my first 50 miler (52.4mi actually 😝)! For many, this will be their first Ultra, for others, a return back where the elevation (7000ft) and terrain ⛰ proved to be a major challenge.
This training block was a little different. Instead of building to high miles week after week (see last pic build to LA Marathon-March), I took a step-wise approach, letting myself rest, deal with injuries, and added a swim 🏊🏻♂️ a bike ride 🚴 and a day of weight training 🏋🏽♀️ to the mix.
This week was packed with 15,000ft of climbing, highest amount of running uphill I’ve done in a week, ever! Do I feel ready? Heck no 👎🏼! But trust the process: Build, taper, race, recover, repeat!
One more week left of the routine, and then MFBRYCE!!! LET’S GO!!!
