Happy Easter everyone!

This year Easter hits a bit differently.

I’m a new mama and my new biggest fear is losing my beloved daughter Juno. I get nightmares about losing her. I get these random thoughts where something terrible happens to her. My mother instincts have kicked in and I so desperately wants to protect her from the hurt and evil in this world.

It was the other day that I had this deep realization. God gave up his Only Son, His Precious Child, His Beloved Baby to pay the cost of our sins.

What?!?!

I couldn’t even imagine giving up my sweet baby Juno! And to imagine giving up my sweet girl to pay the debts of people who don’t deserve it. My heart sank at this thought.

Wow. God did that for me
. 😭😭😭
Motherhood has taught me a new depth and angle of God’s love.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17

On my babies first Easter, I rejoice in knowing that death is not the end but today we remember that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Death has no victory over me.

Her songs helped me put into words a lot of my own experiences.

Our Song - High School me transitioning to College, learning how to drive and blasting and singing to this song as I drove down the 10 freeway in my Mazda 626.

Love Story - A relationship my dad didn’t approve of but I would day dream one day he would.

Red - When I first fell in love.

The Last Time - Crying in my car as I drove home after my first big break up.

1989 Album - Embracing the year I was born and sharing this with Taylor!

Reputation Album - Working through feelings of bitterness and hurt.

It was definitely a dream to go see her for the first time! Thanks to my sister Jen for getting Kevin and me tickets!

I’m excited to share these songs with my daughter and to share with her the stories that each song has played in my life. đŸ«¶đŸŒđŸ„°

Lately, I’ve been faced with a lot of difficult situations. What has been motivating me and humbling me is remembering I am about to be a mama!

I hope to be a mom that is an example of admitting my flaws and remembering that Jesus is the only perfect one who can love us perfectly. I know I am going to fail my child many times in life but my motivation is not to be perfect but to point my child to the only one who won’t fail her. This has been my motivation this season in life.

Instead of following rules mindlessly, it is important to understand the reason why you’re doing it all in the first place. A lot of us make the mistake of jumping into a new fitness routine, nutrition plan or habit without doing the necessary work of understanding why.

What is the reason you are striving to (fill in the blank)?
- improve your sleep routine
- Getting more muscles
- Losing weight
- Completing a book every month
- Learning to cook

Take a good 10-15 minutes to reflect on this question. Go on a walk, journal your thought process or sit down in prayer and reflect with God.

Understanding the deeper motivation and root desire to our actions is powerful. It can help us see if we have a healthy desire to help us grow or an unhealthy desire that ultimately will lead us to failure.

Remember to have grace with yourself in the process. True transformation is slow but with time, you will see a long lasting growth that will last a lifetime.

In James Clear book, Atomic Habits, he goes on to explain how we make the common mistake thinking in order for change to happen, we have to do something dramatically different or do something big.

This is the very thought that leads us to not incorporating healthy habits into our lives and instead leads us to giving up, feeling discouraged and low.

Anyone else has a cookbook fascination?

I am definitely building quite the collection.

My four favorite cookbooks are:

1. Love & Lemons

I love all the fresh and delicious Italian inspired vegetarian dishes. I absolutely love vegetables and Italian food! If you are someone who struggles with liking vegetables and needs a little boost in your life, this cookbook is the one to change your mind on the deliciousness of vegetables in your life. Also, you’ll be surprised to experience the boost of energy and improvement in your skin as you incorporate more vegetables!

2. Aloha Kitchen

My husband and I absolutely love Hawaii. Everything about it! The culture, the people, and especially the food! This is my go to cookbook whenever we have guest over. Who doesn’t love island food that feeds your soul? My favorite recipes are the Katsu Chicken and the Mac salad. I’m drooling thinking about it.

3. Meal Prep For Weight Loss

I highly recommend this cookbook for the busy everyday person who wants to lose weight but does not have time to think about what to eat and needs someone to make a meal plan for them. There are several weekly meal plans to follow. The best part? The recipes are simple and easy to follow.

4.The Whole 30

I am not so much of a fan of following the Whole 30 Diet itself but I am a fan of the recipes in this cookbook. Fun, delicious, simple and easy recipes to follow! If you want to enjoy food that makes you feel good and leaves you with a clean feeling, this is the recipe book for you.

How to Overcome Unnecessary Cravings?

Let me tell you, I pregnancy cravings are real and they are fierce.

I have definitely had to check in with myself multiple times a day because these cravings are no joke!

It took a while for me to get a grasp and understanding of these cravings. It is all a new experience for me juggling a new routine, body and balance of hormones.
